Certainly no hope for that franchise until McTavish and Chia aren't apart of it anymore. - manvanfan
yes I know and my friend has had enough of that team, I said join canuck nation not a chance he said but we are on the right path. |

21 other guys also looked the other way. I don’t care about Gaunce. If the head coach doesn’t think he’s good enough to play in the NHL he probably isn’t. This team is so soft it’s embarrassing, and the guys who are supposed to insert stiffness are the limpest of all. - 1970vintage
If Canucks had 21 men on the ice they are lucky they didn't get called for too many men

Lol. Why are people so hard on Gaunce? What has he done to garner such scorn? - bloatedmosquito
Absolutely nothing at the NHL level.
He has 0 impact on the Canucks but his name is fun to say. Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce . Gaunce |

Was Gaunce ever projected to be a high scorer in the NHL? I was under the impression that he was always considered a reliable defensive forward. |

His nunbers in belleville when he was drafted showed more offensive production than what hes given. I think his knocks when he was drafted was his skating, which hasnt really improved much. Given that he hasnt been able to crack the roster on one of the worst teams in the league in the last 5 or 6 years, I think its indicative to how good he is. |

More and more often there are Barzal or Pasternak’s late in the first. Or if you prefer, a Boeser. Sure, sometimes you get a Gaunce, but I think that’s about your scouting process and what you value (safe, reliable, 200’ player etc) instead of holy crap can this kid shoot the puck. Teach him to skate better and watch out! - 1970vintage
This is what I have said. Your scouting staff needs to do their homework (My exact words from a previous post)
I am not saying this is a terrible draft, I am saying it is a draft. Do your homework and you don't need to tank. Some people have trouble understanding this(not you) .
I have said there are decent players though out the first round you need to find them , and yes I do trust our scouting.

No. He is a convenient example for the drafting argument.
Boeser is the example for the counter argument. |

Because Gillis and Delorme valued the safe, reliable, hard working, good 200’ games type of prospect. |

Didn't Brent Sutter say when he was coaching Team Canada that Gaunce was not that good? Maybe not exactly those words but close

Has he ever really made the team? 57 games in a season is his most (not sure if injury mattered or not). Either way, why was he even brought up? |

OK so instead of arguing bout something that is unprovable until it happens lets wait until Hughes comes in next year and turns a bottom team into a contender and scores his 35 goals. - VANTEL
I'd bet Hughes will have a better rookie year than Tkachuk |

It’s not all about points. Tkachuk brings some sexy intangibles. It will be interesting to see if Hughes can play more than 50 games. He is going to get (frank)ed up |

Not to pump a kids tires before he even plays a game, or set unreal expectations, but It wouldn't surprise me if Hughes gives similar rookie production to what werenski did. 8-10 goals and 40-45 points. Assuming he gets PP1 time and plays top 4. |

I wish he did work out but he hasn't so I moved on . I always want Canuck prospects to succeed.
If he came back and produced close to what he is doing in the AHL i would be all for it but he hasn't so why waste time? |

He has been passed by the likes of Goldobin and Gaudette, will likely get passed by a Dahlen or a Lind in the future.
This is why they should trade Edler, Tanev, Sutter...everything that isn’t nailed down. So that if Lind becomes the next Gaunce but Dahlen becomes the next Gelinas we can still lose in the finals again |
