Looking back over the last 5-7 drafts its typical to see guys drafted in top 10 turn out to be productive or impactful. If we do land around the 7-10 mark, someone like Krebs, Boldy, Zegras, Lavoie, Suzuki are available its not crazy for them to reach the team after 1 more year of junior. Essentially taking the same path guys like Horvat, Bennett, Ehlers, Zacha, Keller, Galchenyuk took. All D+1 guys that put up similar numbers in their draft years and had a fairly quick impact once joining their teams.

But there's always gonna be a few Dal Colles, Fluery, A Nylander and Reinharts.

Oh man, all this Gaunce talk, totally forgot there was a game today.

I know it will probably be Marky but I would rather they give Demmer another start. All star & biweek coming up. Going to ride Marky down the playoff stretch.

In the spirit of NFL playoffs, 14-3 Canucks, Petey with a Sittler

He has been passed by the likes of Goldobin and Gaudette, will likely get passed by a Dahlen or a Lind in the future.

This is why they should trade Edler, Tanev, Sutter...everything that isn’t nailed down. So that if Lind becomes the next Gaunce but Dahlen becomes the next Gelinas we can still lose in the finals again

Lind is not the same style as Gaunce . He plays harder and some agitation. Right now Gaunce is a better points man on the Comets but lind is still so new to this league.

I really hope Canucks are looking at making only one or two changes a year and not 4 or 5 . Demko has put in his time and hopefully is ready.

Next year I hope Gudette and Hughes are the guys being promoted but I know I don't want too many or you are back to starting over.

Ideally you get to a place where every year your first round pick from (2 to 4 drafts ago) is making the team and if anyone else makes it it’s a bonus.

Also, wasn’t comparing Gaunce to Lind. Just that both guys drafted around the same spot (26 vs 31?).

It’s not all about points. Tkachuk brings some sexy intangibles. It will be interesting to see if Hughes can play more than 50 games. He is going to get (frank)ed up

Every draft there is always one of the projected top 5 that fall into the 7-13 range.

If Canucks had 21 men on the ice they are lucky they didn't get called for too many men

Are Kane and Hughes the same? Does Kane play center? You should be better than this

I was joking with a friend the other day saying Canucks should do a Seven Year Itch plan. I was of course joking .

It was made up of three groups Top 3 Bottom 3 and 6 Dmen

Every 7 th year one from each group would be moved. Your first round picks would would begin their NHL career at 22 and be moved at 29

Of course it is ridiculous as it was meant in fun but it is similar to what you are talking about . Draft every year and develop them for 3-4 years and then promote them

This is how I believe a team could remain competitive every year, no “rebuilds”. When you have a guy that could take on a bigger role at the deadline, or make the team out of camp, don’t be afraid to trade a Horvat for an extra first plus.

Keenan was a dink, and his teams here were poopty, but trading Linden and McLean etc set the Canucks up well.

Not true. The Hawks are going to win the lottery and the rest of their team know how to stick up for guys. You mess with Hughes and you get a flying elbow to the head from Keith

Keith can’t even skate well enough to catch anyone w an elbow these days. Debrincat will protect Hughes

I've seen quite a few comparisons between Hughes to Kane - so yeah they're the same in terms of skating, skill and most importantly size. I am better.

Absolutely. No player should be more important than the team. I think the biggest mistakes GMs make is not letting star players go just after they have peaked.

I know someone will ask would you trade EP? Today no but in 6 years ? Definite maybe.

Hughes loves taking the puck up the middle and he plays a more physical position. He is skilled no doubt but he will inevitably take a beating his first few yesrs

You see that every year. Pierre MaGuire compared Quinn Hughes to Bobby Orr.

It is when they compare/praise other prospects to you that you you have reached expectations.

OK so instead of arguing bout something that is unprovable until it happens lets wait until Hughes comes in next year and turns a bottom team into a contender and scores his 35 goals.

I assumed you meant by "(frank)ed up" that its due to his smaller stature. I meant - every year, these smaller, highly skilled kids are proving that wrong. I think both Hughes brothers will have to adjust their style but all great players have that capability. We'll see how that works out next year.

Lol. Why are people so hard on Gaunce? What has he done to garner such scorn?

Didn't call vantels sister back....
Plus, I heard that he only tips 17 percent at the cactus club.
