it would make sense they are looking at Jost, because they have scouted both the Avalanche and their AHL team recently and he has played for both recently

could make the argument they are definitely focused on him as they seem obsessed with acquiring guys from 2016 draft

well the only way they are still here is if they sign extensions, and although I advocate trading both I'd be ok with them signing extensions

Maybe Kaut, more-likely Jost, but Makar and Quinn Hughes are the two top defensive prospects in the entire league. I don't think the Avs would trade Makar for the top guy available at the deadline. Hayes is really good, but he's not good enough to get a prospect like that. Or any pending-UFA, for that matter.
