This break is coming at the worst time for the boys. Finally have some confidence and momentum. It feels like every year extended breaks always kill whatever momentum the team has made. Hopefully they can come back just as strong

You really think they got that much better over the past 3 games?
- Pelle31Forever

Exactly my point...the team has won a few games, they still suck, why would practice make a difference.

Team Negative strikes again.

I don't think, or at least hope, anyone in here is that delusional they are making the playoffs.

The point I'm trying to make is a week of practice isn't changing anything. Also, Gordon is an INTERIM head coach. So whatever system they are allegedly learning might be for not.

- Pelle31Forever

I agree. This team has less than a 5% chance of making the playoffs. Even if they were to somehow simulate a miracle, we'll see a repeat of last year's first round exit in worse fashion. I really hope they don't end up with a 11-15 pick because of Carter Hart lol. Could happen though...

Another great read.

A really sad aspect of last year and this year was that Brian Elliot made this team competitive. A sometimes flawed, physically damaged battling goalie made a big difference. The team believed in him. He picked them up when they made mistakes.

This year started off with no goalies picking up the defense/team when mistakes were made...or at least not often enough. Hart has been a breath of fresh air.

The change to the PP, taking Ghost off the number one unit and therefore limiting his minutes, has actually improved his 5 on 5 play. He appears to hit every shift at full speed and fully focused. Provorov actually finally looks healthy. He is showing signs of the confidence and two way game he played last season.

Getting the young forwards up and running as it were...and JvR coming around..this team will at least be a lot more fun to watch for the rest of the season.

Breath of fresh air is an understatement.

They probably arent but I still want them to try and make it. Weirder things have happened. I have no interest in losing so we can have the #1 overall pick snatched away from us again

You don’t know that. I would be quite happy with that. We are building towards that brighter future. It isn’t just Hart (whom I love.) Individuals across the board are improving their games and as a result, the Team is playing better and winning. We will see what they are made of following the break.

Good teams don't give a sh!t about breaks.
They use the time to mend and get back to work and put on their big boy pants.
Weak minded/fragile teams use the break as an excuse to suck out of it.

The players have ridiculous schedules to keep with equally crazy hours. A week off is good for their physical and mental health.

I had a nightmare our stadium series jerseys were leaked

https://www.broadstreetho...rsey-may-have-been-leaked

This makes no sense. Why they deviate from creamsicle orange to nightmare orange is beyond me.

And just ONCE I would like ONE non-Flyer symbol jersey.

Be creative, maybe cool cursive P, or an orange and black flag, or Americana something.

BTW this gimmick is so lame now. Outdoor games I mean.

What would the next logical gimmick be? VOTE

A. AIRCRAFT CARRIER
B. MOON
C. ON THE OCEAN FLOOR
D. UPSIDE DOWN
E. ON ROLLER SKATES

I think outdoor games are great. Not only that but they're very successful and a great source of revenue for the league. More revenue means more what?

We disagree. They are corny and there is a reason other sports don't follow suit.

And good games can generate revenue too.

So can selling cookies and Cracker Barrel products through fundraisers.

EDIT AND YOU DIDN'T PICK AN OPTION SO I WILL PENCIL YOU FOR AN OCEAN FLOOR THX

Part of being a GM in the cap era is making the hard call on organizational assets.

In a perfect, uncapped world, of course Wayne Simmonds would be re-signed.

But that world doesn't exist. Cliff Fletcher has to understand that it's not that you can't extend him. It's that you have to acknowledge that one day -- probably sooner than you think -- you will rue the day that you did.

It's unfortunate, at times, how professional sports goes. You get a core group together for years and you want to see them win.

But it doesn't always work out like that, and you just aren't managing properly in a world of financial restrictions if you simply keep trying to double down on a core when they have miles on the odometer that you simply cannot roll back

I think outdoor games are good but I think the problem is they keep using the same teams.

I think it's great Dallas gets the Winter Classic next season.

Too little too late.Nice they are playing well when they are out of it.If they play like this when the games matter i will be impressed. Im only happy with Hart.He wasnt part of this poop show.Only thing these wins are doing is moving them down the draft board.Keep winning guys get out of the top ten.

Ok, I could be sold on a river or something. Or maybe the desert (using technology, yes it exists).

But I think any value these games had is gone outside of people who like the sport/team anyway.

At this point, Simmonds is more likely to be traded than re-signed. But that isn’t to say he shouldn’t or won’t be re-signed. It has always been about a matter of term, cap space and to some degree, team performance this season. If the team really wants to keep him, winning any possible points and every game mentality between now and the deadline, speaks louder than words. If the Flyers can front load an offer and get Simmonds to take a 4 year deal, they should. It still isn’t likely. But Simmonds is valuable and great consideration is needed if they must replace him.

Hey man.

Can you go on record and say the Flyers will not make the playoffs? Or that there is 0% chance they will obtain the #1 selection overall?

When Wentz went down last year and you claimed the Eagles had a 0% chance at the Super Bowl everyone benefited.

Cheers friend.

This is actually funny. Numerous major sports already play outdoors.

Not as much revenue as an outdoor game. The cookie fundraiser comment doesn't have much logic behind it.
