I can't see them trading him though, unless some team just made a "can't refuse" offer.
he's a fan favorite that probably has far more value to Ottawa than he ever would to another team. I could see them asking more than he's worth (or other teams are willing to pay) simply because the org loves him so much. - sensarmy_11
I would think he stays but this is Dorion we’re talking about. |

fair enough......the only person who would make me more nervous is Chiarelli |

I could see Dzingel and Pageau getting similar returns. no doubt Dzingel scores more goals, but pageau is a better all around player, and he has term while Dzingel is a rental.
I don't think it's unreasonable to think that pageau could fetch a late 1st rd pick - sensarmy_11

You’re not alone in that respect. Chia is now entering Milbury territory. |

he was entering that while he was still in Boston, I think the Eberle/Strome and Hall/Larsson deals put him in a class all his own |

zero chance Stone would end up in Montreal.
Sens would never trade him there.......even if the habs made the best offer (and I don't think you have the pieces to do it) I think Ottawa would take less from a team that wasn't in the division.
as for UFA, considering you guys owe Price and Weber a combined nearly 20mil per year, for the next 3 decades, and you'll have some guys requiring big raises in the next couple of years.........can't see them being able to offer Stone enough to go there. - sensarmy_11
Webber cap hit is 7.8 if I recall correctly. yes for sure I was talking of an UFA signing, not a trade!
Funny how things turn quickly, last year I would have agreed that we didn't have piece for a big trade, but now Suzuki, Phoeling, Brooks, Primeau & Romanov are drawing a lot of attention ! |

That Eberle trade was a disaster. Still love Hall for Larsson. AL gives them solid minutes night in and night out minus the weekend. That was inevitable. They have been relying on him to deliver top pair assignments with Jones an AHLer.
I would have walked Eberle to UFA. |

if one of Wahlstrom/Dobson and a 1st aren't included I would hang up the phone if I was Dorion. you'll get at least that from other teams. - sensarmy_11
Sens are in a pickle big time. No GM in his right mind would trade either Dobson or Wahlström for a rental. I’m certain Lou stands pat with a few depth trades. I’d pursue UFAs in the summer instead. I can likely see the Stars grabbing Duchene because they are under pressure to improve their offence right away. They could offer a 1st round pick and a top prospect like Robertson. Another 1st round pick next year with an extension would get it done. |

Just curious, where can Duchene go for 8+ on the free market and be on a "contender"? |

I’m quite certain most people loved that Hall trade when the Oilers actually bought in and made the playoffs. Larsson gives them what they’ve missed for a decade. That’s a D that can manage the puck in his own end and defend properly. Hall is a bum!!! One Hart Trophy which is pretty good but no reason to believe he would have done that in Edmonton.
Not sure where your comment comes from. |

a competent GM, trading Hall, should have gotten Larsson, a couple of 1st rd picks, and a top prospect.
the guy was one of the best LW in the entire NHL (behind only OV in my opinion), he had term left on a good deal.
that is EASILY one of the most lopsided and terrible trades in NHL history. it was awful when they made it, and it's only gotten worse as time has gone on.
if you're trading Hall 1 for 1 for a dman, the guys you're getting back are guys like Subban, Karlsson, Josi, etc.....not (frank)ing Adam Larsson |

I would never have traded those D that u mentioned for Hall. An extra pick or more .. sure. I’ll agree to that. You might underestimate what Larsson does for the Oilers. I likely under value Hall but I have my reasons. However I don’t think it’s all that lopsided.
Would you honestly trade EK for Hall? Not now but 2-3 years ago?? Carried the Sens to the Conference Final. Best player in their history. That for Hall??
Hall can have that Hart Trophy. Larsson helped get the Oilers to round 2 of the playoffs. A breath away from the Conference Finals. If the refs knew what goalie interference was then who knows?
The real question is would Hall have had that 90 point performance in Edmonton? Maybe. I’ll take steady Larsson.

New arena is at least 3 or 4 years away at best! So yes it’s not a factor. He would be going back and forth between two s. H. I. T holes for 4 years. I don’t think so
You sound like a bitter Rags fan. Stadium should be completed in 2021 as per Islanders Mgt. After this year, home games will be in the newly renovated Coliseum. With the addition of Lou and Trotz, the Islanders are a destination again. Being that the team is in first place, stacked with prospects, a new state-of-the-art stadium on the way, and a future that has playoffs perennially, Duchene just might sign. Enjoy the fire sale the Rags will have in a few weeks. And enjoy the bottom of the standings the next few years. |
