the Isles didn't win ANYTHING during Tavares tenure in the New York, they had and have s h i t arena, directionless management for years. Wang being Wang (cheap) for years.

that's why he left.

why can't the Islanders fan base simply let it go? Tavares left for his own personal reasons... .and your team is doing fine without him... stop crying the salty salty tears.

move on.

- BorjeFan4Ever

i probably hated sundin for 2 years after he left and his situation wasnt even as bad

give 'em time to mourn

Sundin's might have been worse, tbh.. Sundin vetoed trades and from what we know, the Islanders never tried to trade Tavares

I think thats a little different.
Sundin said he didnt want to be a rental, so he didnt waive his ntc to allow the leafs to get a good start on the rebuild. Which, the rest of the muskoka 5 followed by not waiving their ntc.

Then sundin signs as a rental the next year.

some islanders fans feel he mislead the team, and had they known he would leave they would've traded him.

imho if you let a star player get to free agency that's on you (unless they have a NTC, in which case that's on whoever gave them the NTC) but what do i know

I tend to believe him leaving was the best thing that could have happened. It got rid of snow and got us lou and trotz. Now lous player moves seem to be working for now but the staff he brought in is top notch and was what the isles have needed desperately for years. I also think that all the media writing the team off has brought them close and they are playing amazing hockey of late. 16 3 total score over the last 5 games and 3 games in a row holding teams to under 20 shots against. Last year they gave up over 50 shots in like 8 different games. I think the isles are real because they play a defense first system and are hard to score on this year. 48 games is a big sample size now are the cup contenders? Probably not but in the east tampa aside all teams are beatable at this point.

Almost all remaining games are at the Coliseum and its so loud in there but youre right the barclays blows. How is air canada or whatever these days? I hear its all suits that arent the real fans of the team and its quiet a lot. Not a knock on you guys as youre real fans like i am of the isles

While I think you have a bit of rose coloured glasses on, the Isles have been much better this year then initially thought. I dont think they will get out of the first round IMO. Just my honest assessment. They are headed in the right direction, but I still dont trust their goaltending

With that being said, dont know that Leafs will either

Owners said do not move him, he asked not to be traded however and stated he wanted to stay multiple times. I think if he said i want to see whats out there it would be different but water under the bridge for me

No thats pretty accurate, it gets better in the playoffs, but the suits are pretty lame.

To be fair to Tavares, he has said that it wasn't an easy decision and he probably didn't know he was going to leave until the Leafs made him an offer.

Yea im more a glass half empty guy but lehner has been excellent thus far. Trust me im waiting for the floor to drop out but the system tritz has put in place has really shut down so high scoring teams. They are looking to play caps pens or bjs currently and have had close series with two in the past so never know. I expect lou to make a move at the deadline as well

He was invested in the team, i kinda of get that. He had not made a decision at all during the season, so why would he ask to be out.

If they asked him to waive so they could rebuild, I could get the anger.

Based on what I see in the standings, I dont think the floor will drop out entirely. I think theyll make it, likely as a wild card team though.

Montreal has played 2 more games than everyone and buffalo is faltering. Metro top 4 is 3 or 5 points apart it should go to the wire

How do we get the refs to call more penalties on teams the Leafs play?
