juat wondering - nobody on here ever wears a suit?
- plantheparade

I think its pretty obvious what I was saying when referring to suits...and no I have never worn a suit to a hockey game.....

The reference is obviously to people going to the game for corporate reasons, opposed to caring about going to see the Leafs play. Its a business event, nothing more.

Difference being most wouldn't wear one to a hockey game.. hopefully
- daeth
i think it's more because 50-80% of visitors are one-time visitors. there's no 'coherence' between most fans - if that makes sense. in any case us/canada fans way different than in europe and south america

Lol, I take it you have never been to a corporate even at a sports venue.....I have, and I didnt wear a suit, and most people didnt even watch the game....

Most people that goto the events even if they are a fan dont pay attention, and a lot of them are casual fans.

Yeah well, it doesnt usually work like that. You invite clients from out of town, or the cleints you are trying to get business from. They usually arent exactly die hard maple leaf fans..

i went 5-6 times each season (only 20-25 or so home games) so i guess it was easier to make sure that the clients that i invited actually were interested in football.
i hated it myself when the games were saturday evening games - didn't like to do business on saturday. the champions league games were better since during the week.

i have to say though - if i'm invited to a concert of celine dion or whoever by a business contact, i wouldn't mind declining the invitation; there's always ways you can do that gracefully. (i don't like celine dion seems like a fair reason )

Your last point is exactly why he left the islanders.
- Fakepartofme

He left the Islanders because Garth Snow failed him (and the fans) for 10 years by treating pajama boy like the spoiled special-talent that he was and by not complimenting him with another top talented winger and a real coach. We get it. He wanted a better chance to win a cup and the Islanders didnt seem like they were poised to do so. All of that has changed, tho, no? We will hate him for the gutless way he left the team-basically holding us hostage with his inability to commit to what he ultimately wanted. That will forever be his legacy and just wait until we play him at
the Coliseum....he’s in for a rude awakening if he thinks he’ll get a warm welcome.

Plus...he wasnt all that prolific on the Island and his defense was pretty awful....go look up his numbers...they tell the truth. Fact is, we are a better team without him and Barzal is already outpacing him (career-wise) and his contract will be a problem
for the Leafs moving forward.
