As a fan I am now mildly annoyed. That should have been four points in the bag over the weekend.

hook and hold a lot. don't get called? well defending just got easier. do get called? even up calls incoming!

Wow. Just looked again after a while. Still the least penalties and least PP. This league is so stupid.

How can the Leafs improve their PP, when they only get one chance per game.
- PatC80

Leafs are 10 PPs behind the 30th place team.

Leafs are on pace (207) for the least amount of PP opportunities any team has had (sans 48 game season) since forever. Well i went back to 1979 and no team had fewer than 210 PPs in a full season.

Kadri had been propping up the penalties drawn for years. Now thanks to Trump, the officials are finally clamping down on the Muslim Missile.

No worse trolls on this site than you TO fans since the start of the season.

I came to this site to watch you all spout doom & gloom after losing to one of the worst teams in hockey and to see you “turn” like attack dogs on your own players. Such arrogance followed by saltiness is truly hilarious to witeness.

In case your memory is as Archaic as your name, we shut you out 2 weeks ago on YOUR ICE. Were we not the better team THAT DAY?

(goaltending excuses coming in 3....2....1..)

kind of funny, you rambling on like someone gives a (frank)... good for you.

Just remember if they kick our asses in February your gonna get it back 10x. I do enjoy the bumhole leaf fans eatng their words but every fanbase has them. I would love a playoff matchup at somepoint but that would most lieky be as a 2 7 matchup or conference finals, 2 7 has the best chance and currently either team could be 2 or 7
- Upstate_isles

Where do we go to try to get you back ?? If we win in Feb. That is.

There is definatley something strange going on with that. (probably human related biases and stuff like that)
the lack of PP and the PP itself going cold is a large part of this slump.

That's part of the reason

I just don't get why so few penalties are called in Leafs games vs other games. I don't mind it especially if the refs put the whistles away in the playoffs. Problem is I can see an average of 7 penalties being called per game in the Boston series

From what I’ve been hearing, the Leafs analytics department says they’re playing pretty good and the tide will turn.

Watching the games i def feel like the Leafs deserved better in several of the loses the last 10 games.

Having a GM who is able to look at the underlying data and not just the record over that time so they can avoid stupid moves just for the sake of it is a good thing

That's basically it.

Somebody posted a chart: there's a direct correlation to PPs given by the number of penalties taken.

This is because officiating is basically a popularity contest.

And we're 30th in PK time (31st in PP time).

We don't play gritty enough to take penalties, which means we're not awarded even-up PP opportunities because zebras.

I concur.

I think there's still more optimal line combos/pairings to be had too.

I said last night that they should load up the top line (Matthews Tavares Marner), let Gauthier and Lindholm center the bottom 6 and basically roll 2 lines all night when they're down.

Matthews with Marner is at least a step in the right direction, because you have a shooter with a... wait for it... passer and good things might just result in that.

I also think Dermott needs to be in the top 4, even when Gardiner is there, and rotate the top 2 pairings heavily.

Pair Hainsey with Oz, maybe actually rotate in Holl once in a while too, so we're not ruining another players' development and actually have a semi-fresh 7th/8th D available.

He left the Islanders because Garth Snow failed him (and the fans) for 10 years by treating pajama boy like the spoiled special-talent that he was and by not complimenting him with another top talented winger and a real coach. We get it. He wanted a better chance to win a cup and the Islanders didnt seem like they were poised to do so. All of that has changed, tho, no? We will hate him for the gutless way he left the team-basically holding us hostage with his inability to commit to what he ultimately wanted. That will forever be his legacy and just wait until we play him at
the Coliseum....he’s in for a rude awakening if he thinks he’ll get a warm welcome.

Plus...he wasnt all that prolific on the Island and his defense was pretty awful....go look up his numbers...they tell the truth. Fact is, we are a better team without him and Barzal is already outpacing him (career-wise) and his contract will be a problem
for the Leafs moving forward.

Hard to blame the Leafs assuming what you are saying is happening.

also, who is to say that if they play gritty they just dont end up being penalized more and not benefiting

Phil Kessel has a more physical edge to his play than Nylander.
Nylander is a guy that won't help you win a Stanley Cup - period.
