Are there any Islanders fans from Manhattan? I'm assuming "no."
I went to the U.S. Open a few years ago (holy poop, what a blizzard of corporate money). It was a giant franking hassle to get to (although kinda cool, as I had never seen Spanish Harlem before).
I can't imagine anyone from NYC would be looking forward to the new arena location.
I found the Barclays to be great for tourists (but yes, I recognize they may not base their arena location decisions based upon Wedgie's needs and wants). |

Haven’t seen any humpable pigmy horses around here so there’s one point for Toronto. May be much closer than we think. |

I lived in Manhattan for a decade and most of my family still does so there are some. With that said the vast majority of people that live in Manhattan don’t care about hockey. Most hockey fans are from queens, Brooklyn, and Long Island and most of those are rangers fans. |

I’ve been to Toronto a few times and it was beautiful. It was also the cleanest city I ever been to and the people and culture were amazing. I mean apart from hockey I would live there in a heartbeat but an islanders fan in Toronto probably wouldn’t be to good for my health |

I TOTALLY said that I understand he wanted a better chance at winning a Cup.
That's every players' right. It's been substantiated that he told NYI NOT to trade him last year at deadline.
Then he waits until Free agency to finally make his decision. THAT'S the part that has us all pissed and why he's persona non grata on the Island.
Please name 5 places in Toronto, hell in all of Ontario that people come from all parts of the world to see? Really....are you gonna argue there's more to do or that what TO has to offer is better than anywhere else in the world? really.....REALLY?????? - jmo16
It's been substantiated? Where? Provide the source. |

You'd probably be very surprised.
The one weird thing about Toronto is although there are a jillion Leafs fans, there are also a jillion fans of other teams - more so than any other NHL city.
Part of it is that the Leafs sucked for so long, fans got turned off and started cheering for others. Part of it is you know a kid from high school who played for a team or at least was drafted by them, so you started cheering for them.
And a big part is that most of English-speaking Montreal moved to Toronto in the 1970s - and like frank they were going to dump that team to start cheering for the Leafs. Not in that era.
But if you go to sports stores in Toronto, you can buy jerseys of pretty much any team in the league - they'll have racks with sweaters, complete with names and numbers (I could buy a Crosby, Ovi, McDavid, etc. shirt in a dozen places downtown).
I haven't been to another NHL city where that would be possible. |

Lots of Flyers fans too (mostly idiots who loved the Broad Street Bullies, but there are also some guys who loved Lindros).
A handful of Edmonton fans.
And of course Toronto is like New York - a lot of migration from other parts of Canada, and they usually keep cheering for their old teams. A buddy on my street is raising his kids as Sens fans. It's disgusting to see... |
