He's getting slower. Injury after injury after injury and it's piling up on him.
He has almost no offensive confidence but he CAN still eat up minutes vs top lines pretty effectively, he's just not going to score.
They brought in Kruger to do some heavy lifting for him defensively last year and that was a disaster. Hopefully the way Aho has come along allows them to reduce his minutes.
They can't buy him out, though. If they buy out Darling (who's somehow been WORSE in the AHL than he was in the NHL) then they've got Darling and Semin buy-outs on the books, so a third leaves them no flexibility for retaining salary in a trade or anything for the next several years. - BINGO!

The giving up Barzal and Belleveau (sp?) for Reinhart is what REALLY hurt this team in my opinion. Even if they picked two other players that would’ve still been good depth to have instead of letting Barzal/Belugawhale-worth-Reinhart get taken for free. - RafiDRW
Reinhart was like 22 at the time was he not? He's not a prospect and he's barely played in the chel, he may not have even played.
How the (frank) do you think that's worth a mid first and a (frank)ing high second.
I don't really count Beauliver. Edmonton had no way of getting him, but my god. |

Yeah. They did. It fell that way with their pick. What if’s and all that bullpoop, Chia (frank)ed over a trade that could’ve let Draisaitl be traded for a top pairing defenseman while Barzal shores up the second line. Or a Barzal - McDavid - Draisaitl - Nuge - Klefbom powerplay. |

He’s a winger. Most wingers aren’t known for defense besides a select few like Zetterberg. He was good in possession and scored lots. That makes up for not blocking shots. - RafiDRW
What makes up for letting guys take the puck on the boards because you’re a selfish wussy that refuses to battle for the puck ??? |

We all saw how he performed in the playoffs. That was not an anomaly. That was par for the course Jordan Eberle. His defensive play cost us multiple games. He refuses to play any form of defensive hockey because he’s lazy as (frank) unless the puck is on his stick. (frank) that gap toothed female dog! - Iloveeveryone
this take is about as awful as they come. Eberle may have been a no-show in the playoffs, and inconsistent at times, but you are talking about a 20+ goal scorer on average, being turned into Ryan Strome, whos best goal scoring season was 17, and you are trying to justify the trade based off of this? Maybe Eberle was absent during the playoffs, but P.S. (he was part of the reason that got you there in the first place). |

Agreed. Sit him against the Flames or the Oilers. Not in front of his (frank)ing parents. He’s 20. He’s a rookie. Can’t imagine how much this might affect him in confidence. Blashill basically is staying that he would be a failure in his family and friends eyes. - RafiDRW
Blashill deserves to shot with a ball of his own frozen poop for that stunt. |

The Talbot deal wasn't even close to as bad as the Reinhart one, and realistically Talbot is the only reason we made the playoffs that year. As bad as he has been lately, at least he had some value at some point. Most of Chia's work has been negative value. - Beergu
Talbot was a really good trade for Chiarelli. He came in and was our MVP not named McJesus. How is it Chia’s fault that his starting goalie has turned to dog poop since he had kids? |

Hmm because that matters so much when Lucic is scoring 60 points a season.

New York traded up that pick to get him. I wanted us to take Brandon Carlo in that spot. |

Agreed. It would be sad. Shame that he's fallen so low, but he joins the list of backups failing as starters. (frank)ing hell NHL starting goalies are essentially miracles. |

Asset management... should have traded him when he declined last season... now he has no value... Its Chias fault as its his job to manage the team... |

The two are totally separate. Lucic’s numbers have nothing to do with Eberle being a little female dog |

He also signed us a backup for this season that was lights out until lately in case Talbot faultered. Is it his fault that Koskinen’s numbers have died off too? He’s done some really poor work but that’s not on him. You might as well run face first into a wall, and blame it on Chiarelli too. (Please leave video evidence if you do) |

So how do you trade Talbot last year when he’s only putting up average numbers and has a contract of 4.166667 mill with a year left on it? How do you get value for him? You can’t blame everything on Chiarelli. Most, not all |
