“It’s weird,” Beane said. “This year we’re in the top-10 and we don’t need to be. It’s funny how it all works out, but it’s nice to be able to focus a little more of our energy all the positions.”

I'm guessing he means that last year they "needed" to be in the top 10 to get Allen? It's a dumb comment |

I found that statement curious too
If we stay where we are,
we need to get a difference maker
Of course we NEED help offensively...
but the way the draft is shaping out,
Pick #9 should be a defensive player
There’s a handful of good DTs that’ll be available there
And a few DE/LB pass rushers as well
It’s not a “need” per se,
but i really like Devin White from LSU
He can play inside or outside (like Edmunds)
He’s basically the Roquan Smith of this draft
Our LB group would be nasty with him & Edmunds for the next decade |

Lol
No Funchess please
WR is pretty thin
Pretty much just Golden Tate & John Brown that I’d be interested in (at the right price)
No “studs” in this year’s draft either
Tough time to need WR help
*i don’t think AB84 is a good fit for us |

they needs a DT
a LB
a Tackle
a WR
draft the best player IMO with their pick |

The hiring of Farwell looks like a panther nepotism pick, but Farwell was not employed there while either Beane or McDermott were in carolina |

I agree
But ppl are gonna go bonkers when we end up picking someone on defense with that 1st pick
If we’re going by need/value...
1st- DT
2nd- WR/OT
3rd- OT/WR
There’s a few pretty decent tackles in free agency this year
*a stud pass rusher is also a BIG need for us |

Btw, I didn't mean yours was a dumb comment, I meant Beane's was a dumb comment. If you're picking in the top 10 with your own pick, you obviously need that pick because you suck |

False. N'Keal Harry is absolutely a stud. He's going to real good. PS, have Foster in a dynasty league. Obviously worth a stash as we can hold 26 guys, 32 in the offseason. Thoughts from the gallery of how he'll do going forward? |

Foster?
Depends on how Josh Allen (& our offense) develops
As far as KNeal goes...
IDK about that?
He’s not projected top10
He’s in the group with both Browns, Metcalf & Harmon
Most grades I’ve seen have them in the bottom half of the 1st-top half of the 2nd
And no consensus at all on which order they should go in, and definitely not who the top guy is |

Not at pick 9 though
I’m cool with him (or whichever WR they like) if we move down into the late teens or
the 20s
Idk if there’s much difference in talent between the 1st WR that’ll get picked & the 4th/5th one that will get chosen?
Different types of WRs obviously
One of that group is likely available for us at pick8 in the 2nd round |

He was the top guy going in prior to the season.
He’s the wideout I’d target in the draft. Guy is going to be a stud. He’ll move the chains and be a threat in the red zone. |

Welp, let's try this...
Sabres currently playing at a 85 pt pace
That would have them picking 11th, using last seasons standing as a guide.
Interestingly, the Blues would finish with around 80sh, earning them the 9th pick...BUT for the sake of this execise, let's say they get the 13th pick so it isnt protected.
Therefore, Sabres pick 11th and 13th ... who do you want Sabres to pick?
Here are the Rankings by Sporting News as of today...
NHL Draft 2019: Big board, player rankings
1. Jack Hughes, C, U.S. NTDP
Not enough superlatives to describe just how exciting a phenom he is to watch. Hughes makes something happen every shift and competes hard to become the best player on the ice.
2. Vasili Podkolzin, LW, SKA-Neva (VHL)
Abrasive and creative, Podkolzin has the potential to be a present-day Doug Gilmour. His list of enemies already spans two continents and grows by the game.
3. Kaapo Kakko, RW, TPS Turku (SM-Liiga)
Graceful yet powerful, Kaako’s golden goal at the world juniors is just a small part of an impressive pre-draft resume that includes close to point-per-game production as a teenager in Finland’s SM-Liiga.
4. Alex Turcotte, C, U.S. NTDP
Dominant play in Jack Hughes’s absence solidified his standing as the draft’s best two-way center. He should be near the top on every team’s draft board.
5. Trevor Zegras, C, U.S. NTDP
Superior playmaking and vision has kept Zegras on the NTDP’s top line, even if it means playing on Hughes’s wing where he excels as both a finisher and set-up man.
6. Bowen Byram, D, Vancouver (WHL)
Top draft-eligible defender can log big minutes and dictate the flow of a game with physicality or his puck-moving skills.
7. Matt Boldy, LW, U.S. NTDP
Smart winger with size can play a dual role as finisher or playmaker. Develops instant chemistry with linemates.
8. Dylan Cozens, C/W, Lethbridge (WHL)
Cozens is all hustle and plays with a team-first attitude, but it’s his shot and physicality that makes him a lethal option close to the goal.
9. Alex Newhook, C, Victoria (BCHL)
Boston College-bound playmaker is leading the BCHL in scoring and can finish in a variety of ways.
10. Peyton Krebs, C, Kootenay (WHL)
Not enough love being given to this coach’s dream, who can solve any problem in any zone. Krebs is carrying a weak team on his back but handles the pressure like a pro.
11. Kirby Dach, C, Saskatoon (WHL)
A recent scoring slump followed by a lower-body injury has cooled talk that Dach could challenge for the top spot. He’s an excellent playmaker who lacks a quick first step.
12. Victor Soderstrom, D, Brynas (SHL)
An injury-plagued start to his draft year is now a distant memory, as Soderstrom is playing like the top teenage defenseman in Sweden. All facets of his skating are outstanding.
13. Raphael Lavoie, RW, Halifax (QMJHL)
Few bigger forwards in the 2019 group can motor and handle the puck as well as Lavoie, who plays with confidence while controlling the puck. He’s a sound decision maker and can score goals from just about anywhere in the offensive zone.
14. Nils Hoglander, RW, Rogle (SHL)
Hoglander is a pesky waterbug who knows how to instantly turn opposing turnovers into quality chances. He’s established himself as an everyday contributor.
15. Ryan Suzuki, C, Barrie (OHL)
A focal point on Barrie’s thinning attack, Suzuki has been able to hold it together as the Colts started gutting the roster. His excellent vision and playmaking abilities will be put to the test in the second half, but you’d also like to see him use his underrated shot a lot more

That was just my opinion. WRs have been, I don't want to say devalued, but taken later then most other positions. That doesn't mean that they aren't more "talented" at their position then someone else is at theirs. It just means that drafting a QB, Edge, LT, or CB is a more pressing need in today's NFL, which is true. Agreed, not at pick 9. But he's going to make someone look very smart is all I'm saying. Dude's a stud. |

Newhook, Kaliev, Colefield, Lavoie, Soderstrom, Krebs, Brink I think should be considered with our pick and the potential blues pick. McMichael, Leason, Seider, kokkinon, Honka, Pelliter can be considered with the Caps pick. |
