Different does not = better

Different does not equal bad, either.

We'll know in a few years.

If we can rid the cap space and make a few shrewed signings of top 9 players then we are a playoff team forsure next year no doubt in my mind. Then in a few years the draft picks supplement those players. The Isles added Fippula, Komorov and Matt Martin and that made guys like Cizikas, Clutterbuck play better and give them a good bottom 6 and a reliable vet 2nd Line C. Yes the play of Lehner/Greiss and having the best head coach in the NHL helps as well.
- Pegullaville

Very good post, and spot on.
It has been demonstrated time and time again to build through the draft to keep a steady stream of young players on ECLs to manage the Cap.
The Core is still young 18-24, not 28-32 and win now mode.
Signing a bunch of high-priced vets NOW is the wrong approach IMO.
Year of Transition, stay the course, dump slugs, build through draft and stockpile, not sell off an already thin pipeline.

Dude what the ever living (frank) is the obsession with 1st round picks? Aside from our top-3 picks the past few years, we have drafted 4th liners and traded those players away...

My god, we are more likely to get a girgensons than a pasternak with our draft history. We currently have a top 10 pick hardly scoring in the AHL and his ELC is almost up...

poop man, we can afford to trade a 1st round pick. What we need is a better scouting department, not multiple 1st round picks.

- BeadyEyedDouche

They did that 18 months ago after GMTM dumb Nylander selection year

The only move we should make is either trade or resign Skinner (Hopefully resign).

We aren’t in any position to be giving up any more picks or prospects for UFA’s or underperforming RFA’s to be. Stick to the plan and do not derail it like Tim Murray did.

We’ve seen what this team is capable of and outside of the first line it’s not much. We are more than a simple trade deadline move away from being a playoff team.

Bring back ror, Kane, lehner, sign skinner and stone, plenty of room for everyone. Why can't you all see that? It's obviously the way to go.

I like it, but I'd go

Skinner-Eichel-Reinhart
Olofsson/Bustlander-Mitts-Okposo (they'll never waive Okposo)
Smith-Erod-Pommer (I really like the erod/Pommer connection)
Sheary-Asplund-O'Regan
Larsson
Sobotka

- jcragcrumple

Gutting Rochester like that is pretty unlikely
Especially with them doing so well

The ringers nfl draft guide has Josh Allen at 8 overall

McBeane - make that move up to 7th overall and draft Josh Allen (again)

- Boss34

I see a lot of ppl projecting him to go in the top5- as high as 3rd overall

We need to develop the players that we have.

Part of that development is exposing them to the NHL Playoffs. The NHL Playoffs are a different game than the NHL regular season.

There are trades for a first rounder that can be made to achieve that without acquiring simple rentals. We should make those trades.

You all discuss picks as if they are guaranteed value. They are not.

I'm fed the frank up with losing.

Good post

I bet a team would move up and pay if they are in love with a player at 9. Especially if a team covets a qb there.

Redskins pick 15th
That seems like a decent possibility

Putting up 83 points in 97 AHL games and developing like many 1st rounder's selected outside of the top 10 ? Im still curious to know why we should trade a 1st rounder + other assets to acquire a player that the other team deemed tradeable for the assets we are giving them. If that said team would rather have our first rounder then why shouldn't we not keep it ?
- Pegullaville

Ummmm... Carolina traded Skinner to us

I'm starting to think jbotts ships skins to Vegas.
I'm sure he will do everything possible to sign him 1st.

Looking at this roster, I dont see the push heading into the deadline.

I expected more from casey, tage, okposo, sheary and the pod racer

and e rod

this season's failure totally falls on the second and third line IMO and I expected them to be more credible than anemic

Another change of scenery trade. Skinner probably wasn’t going to resign, and management wanted to go in a different direction. We also didn’t give up a 1st round pick. I’ve said multiple times I’d love to acquire a player if it didn’t involve one of those first rounders.

Casey could end up around 30 if he has a better 2nd half, Tage I had no expections for, but 10 points is not getting it done.
