Unfortunately Stolarz and Lyon aren't worth a lot in trade value and sandstrom, Errson, and Ustimenko are unproven so the better value is to wait and see from them.

The key to everything is how well the young defensemen progress the next 2 years. If most of the key ones work out (Provorov, Sanheim, Myers, Morin) then the Flyers would probably shop Ghost. The next year and a half will be very telling to see who will actually be the core of the team in the future.

What would it take to get Doughty, I would LOVE to get, then re-sign him.

Obviously it would be prohibitive. A Jake+Ghost+Maybe our pick next year. They get 3 for 1.

But we would still have : Giroux, Provorov, Coutourier, Patrick, Myers, Doughty, JVR, Hart, Konecny.....

So you failed to read what you actually wrote then?

Lyon isn’t flashy or big...but those attributes aren’t required to be a good NHL goaltender. Those attributes are what casual observers key off of to make their judgments. I simply think there is a lot more to it than both fans and some media outlets seem to think. More than that, most people whether they are conscious of it or not, are influenced by the public opinion rather than forming their own judgment based on as much actual observations and fact as is available.

No, it is you who didn’t read what I wrote. You will notice if you look without blinders that the word “only” was not there. Of course, size is part of a goaltender evaluation. I have never said that it wasn’t. There are many NHL goaltenders of Lyon’s size that have had great careers. Sometimes a direct comparisons between two prospects isn’t the most accurate way to evaluation one of them.

As I said, my opinion is based on my personal observation of Lyon (viewed in Charlotte, and on TV from some AHL games and all his NHL games) and stats. I have looked to see what scouting opinions are as well.
