You mean the one that won the competition or the one who beat some of the men in the fastest skater?
Obviously any woman in the NHL would get destroyed, there isn't a poster here who said they should play in the NHL.
But they would be completely fine in an exhibition game that nobody cares about except you it seems.
But you keep living in the 50's bud. - Stripes77
believing in equality is living in the 50s? Gifting people spots is living in the 50s
The woman was a gimmick for the NHL. Equality means equal pay, equal platform.
See you say I live in the 50s but I am the one pushing equality. You are pushing a
token woman in the All-star skills. They wouldn't even let her compete in the actual
game.
Its clear you don't believe in equality.
Giving someone an advantage because of gender is sexist. Giving someone an advantage because of skin color is racist. Giving someone an advantage because of religion or sexual orientation is bigotry.
Next time you go golfing make sure you bring up women's tees to the golf course and ask them to be removed. Thats what I thought. |

If I had daughters I would teach them to be just as good as any other human based on skill and intelligence and not gender. |

I really hope you don't have a daughter (glad that was answered that you don't)
You obviously don't understand what it means to young girl hockey players to see a woman participating with the men and not only holding their own but thriving.
They should let them play in the "game".
But like I said keep living in the 50's.

That's exactly what happened. The one woman won her event. The other woman was faster than some, and slower than McDavid.
What are you arguing? |

Why they didn't let her play in the game? What were they afraid of? Skills competition ok.... |

You have been conned.
So you write she should have played in the game.
So you agree, she was a gimmick. |

She didn't compete with men. She didn't play in the game.
Why didn't they let her play in the game? Love to hear your answer. - sabresfan69
Because the NHLPA and the NWHL don't have an agreement in place.
Once the CWHL and the NWHL combine and are under the NHL umbrella I bet they would.
Hell even if they don't combine any time soon they probably will end up allowing them to play in the "game".
The skills competition was treated as a test run.

Women's hockey is non-checking. So they could have played a whole game like that, which, tbh, would be fine with me. go 4-on-4 with one woman per team, no hitting.
But i suspect if they played non-hitting hockey with women you and like-minded individuals would have had an aneurysm |

I remember Manon Rheaume
Far more impressive than what any woman did in an NHL All-star competition.
Complete gimmick. The NHL used her for ratings. |

Conned?
No, because I know how good she is.
The point is to boost ratings is it not? You call that a con? I call that smart. Tapping into a market the NHL is just realizing exists.
It's smart business. It's good for the women's game.
For some reason you can't seem to understand or refuse to admit that their are talented women hockey players, that in a "skills game" like the NHL All Star Game, would thrive. |

She is good enough to play in the NHL?
Like I said, Manon Rheame earned her time.
As for her talent. If she was so talented why didn't she play in the game? |

When was the last time a body check was thrown in the All-Star game?
I have never seen someone get so upset over a game that doesn't matter.

I am not upset, we are having a debate.
If she wasn't a gimmick they would have let her play in the game.
Clearly the NHL felt she wasn't good enough.
You were conned you just don't want to admit it. |

No, no she didn't.
As far as talent and skill wise is Coyne or Brianna Decker or Hilary Knight good enough to play in the NHL? Absolutely.
On body size and strength? No, no they're not. |

Sure she did. She played with men in the IHL and ECHL. She beat men in the IHL and ECHL.
That I can get behind. |

Explain how I was conned?
Because as someone who loves the game of hockey and someone who has been around both the men's and women's game I know how talented the top women's players in the world are?

Wow, you're delusional
They didn't let her play because the winning team gets a million dollars
The same reason the NHL couldn't pay Decker the money for winning the passing competition and CCM stepped up to pay her.
You think it's out of fear?
Sadly it's for a far more rudimentary reason. |

Instead you are applauding the gimmick that she is.
Thats a fact. |

So the woman doesn't deserve the money? Sorry what? Are you saying the men are greedy? Nothing could be worked out?
Wow, just wow. |
