I had a long time to really think about this team over the last 10 days or so. I am happy they are improving and they are right where I thought they would be, but that damn 10 game win streak went and screwed my head all up. I started envisioning going from worst to first, all the headlines and then BAM, back to reality.

Reality is this team has BIG holes. I trust that JBotts will fix them and I do hope to stay in the playoff hunt the rest of the year.

I only included that because I think I like the trade, knowing they are different positions (forward and defense). Botts is doing a good job getting young D in there where if one or two can play real NHL minutes, he did a great job (for what he gave up to get these guys).

We do have like 9 guys in NHL now, they will need to make a trade including a D man or two, or someone will take them on waivers. Don't want to see Pilut go back to Rochester just to not lose a guy, but that might be what happens.

It is the Disastrous Retreat to 26th, which Actually Turns out after the Lottery to be the Seventh Overall Pick, so we wind up with a good pick but nothing that can be expected to make a meaningful contribution to this team for three years.

I think trading for a 26 year old 40 point secondary scorer [like Nino Niederreider(sp)] could put is into a playoff experience that would do more to improve the team that the pick would.

Is that good or bad asset management from the Penguins? I say good, they used the player for 2 years and got the same pick back. And are now out of that horrible contract.
