I should've included that part. I actually laughed when I read it. He praises Fletecher for realizing there are a couple of pieces missing. No poop!
- MJL
I do think the front office should keep their thoughts to themselves a bit though...If the parts are not there then that is the front offices fault...you don't need that to be public and have the team feel they are not good enough...no business works well when that his how the top part of the organization operates. I think Hexy knew it and kept it quiet...

all good, thanks for sharing btw! But yeah I laughed myself. When I read lines like that it seems Scott just personally didn’t like Hextall. Fletcher really hasn’t done THAT much. Surely he’s made minor trades and some more youth has gotten better ice time (that’s more Gordon/coaching than GM) but he hasn’t done anything groundbreaking to warrant Scott praising him over Hexy. |

"Carter Hart’s been amazing,’’ Scott said. "I’m not sure we would have seen him under the other front office. He’s the real deal. For 20 years old he’s strong, mentally strong. It’s more than we could have ever hoped for to get a guy like that.
lol, okay, terrific |
|
|
|
1) Scott has hired someone to look after the business so he can focus on Hockey.
2)""I’m so thrilled with what Chuck’s doing,’’ Scott said. "He’s everything I hoped for. He’s bright, methodical too. He’s a planner. He’s looking for that opportunity. Between now and the end of February, if there’s an opportunity, we’re in a position to capitalize on it all the way through to the draft and into next season."
3)His attention focused on the hockey team more than ever, Scott vows the Flyers will be much more aggressive in the free-agent market this summer than thewy have been recently. One big reason is that, by next season, more than $260 million will have been spent to improve the fan experience at the Wells Fargo Center.
4)"We’re going to keep investing,’’ Scott said. "We’re going to be cap spenders. We want to build the best team possible. Chuck feels good about a lot of what he inherited. He’ll do more than just draft. He has that experience. We’re going to be aggressive.’’ - MJL
1) Well I cannot say that this is surprising and certainly not scary. I had a tremendous amount of respect for Mr. Snider. He hand picked Mr. Scott to carry on personally overseeing the Flyers. Mr. Scott like all of us isn’t getting younger. This seems a normal job progression. If I were Mr. Snider, I would choose someone who was not just like-minded in business dealings but has significant potential to love the team/game as much as me.
2) This is exactly what any good GM should always do. I haven’t seen Fletcher do or not do something that I can scream about. I may question a few things but so far so good, just minor stuff. I don’t agree with anyone 100% of the time.
3/4) They run the Flyers! What do you expect? I expect all options to be explored and 100% of available resources to be used to win both now and maintain the competitive level going forward.
As for the other Scott comments, the reaction to them reminds me of how people thought Mr. Snider sometimes said too much.

might be a homer but i'd put Patrick after Ekblad, and you have Bennett too high. Not sure if you watch much college hockey either but Makar is going to be a good player. - ClaudeFather
So is Patrick. I firmly believe what we saw the last week of the pre-bye play was just a taste of how good he is. |

"maybe Conor and Perrault (ridding them of his $4M) for Laughton and a second. Something along those lines."
sorry, this is not close and we are not that desperate to move people out. the Jets can let Myers walk, trade or buy out Kulikov and still have room to sign everyone. Connor and or Laine could get bridge deals.
Trouba is the big question here as he doesn't seem interested in signing here and will probably be moved in the summer. If Trouba gets traded for a forward then I can see us consider dealing Connor or Roslovic but that will cost a lot more than Laughton. I'd look at your young D, and not Haag. |

Just need to see more consistency from the kid, I have no worries about his game. This was also around the time last year that he started to heat up. |

Snider had hockey savvy. Scott admittedly does not have a hockey background.

Why did they hire Hextall in the first place. If they wanted to stay a cap team and remain aggressively spending in the free agent market, should've just kept Holmgren as GM. Those comments alone are very scary. |

Not Hagg , others know. What is Trouba looking for in a deal? His numbers aren't that impressive but when you watch him he is a big fluid Dman with some offense. His issue is he just wants out of Winnipeg correct? Your D could be pretty thin from 3-6 after losing one of Meyers/Trouba, have the forwards to make up for it though. |

I think the biggest thing Fletcher has done is bring Hart up and see what he can do.
I'm sure Hexy planned to do that when he thought he was ready.
We won't know which approach was right for many years sadly.

Mr. Snider was a very bright individual who at one time also did not have a hockey background.
The article was not centered on Hextall.

some people in Winnipeg think trouba is over rated, I am not one of them, he is not a PP guy which hurts his offensive numbers but he actually produces points 5v5 at a very good rate and is an excellent first pair D. I think he will want a contract in the 7.5 -8 year range. not sure he will get that here but that's what I think he wants. for comparison;

I don't think they had a choice...Fletcher had to pull a waiver wire goalie off the streets just to give Hart a backup (just like Hexy did earlier in the season)...that hand played itself and would have been played the same way if Hexy was here...Hart was not going to miss his chance once he had it... |

We really like Niku, you'll get a look at him tonight but please consider he is playing with Morrow tonight so that hurts him a lot. We also like Tucker Poolman (currently in the AHL ) I do think though if we lose both Myers and Trouba we will absolutely trade a young forward like Connor or Raslovic for an equal age/talent D, if we don't get a D in any possible Trouba deal.

Just saw your post above.
For me personally I have no issues with anything I read in there. - opeth_pa
I found it refreshing. not scary. This team, Hextall built is at the bottom of the league? I hope they are going to make changes...thank Christ....Is this team supposed to magically fix itself?

Not familiar with your prospect/AHL depth on D, was just basing off what you had and Morrow. Winnipeg is a fun team to watch and I've always been a Brian Little fan, looking forward to tonight's game. |

I like Trouba a lot and I think he will get traded this offseason. He's only going to be one year away from UFA at the end of this season, and Winnipeg isn't going to sign him to a one year deal, nor is he going to have any interest in signing one with the Jets in the first place. I think there's a much better chance that they extend Myers, who won't cost as much as Trouba, and make the other moves you pointed out to keep their key players and stay cap compliant.
I would love to have Trouba here, I think he'd be the perfect partner for a guy like Provorov on a top pair, and I'd have no problem inking him to a long term deal with a cap hit in the 7-7.5 million range as he'll only be 25 next season. Of course, he won't come cheap and I don't know if there is a deal to be made, but I'd at least look into it if I'm Fletcher.

to be honest Flyers have always been my 2nd favorite team, the score last game was not even close to telling the story of the game. I think the Flyers are built exactly like the Jets and built for long term success. that's a lot of pressure on Hart but I think he's up to it. I do think we could see a Jets/Flyers trade in the summer that helps both teams and it will probably be a trade both fan bases hate at first cause you will see a fan favorite moved from each team.
ps. Morrow Sucks.

I think the coaching change has given some guys more ice time (Sanheim, Lindblom) that needed it.
I liked that we decided to move on from Jordan Weal. I liked that we moved on from Dale Weise. I"ll be happier when we move on from Jori Lehtera. I like the Vorobyev recall.
Also, I recall that Hart was recalled as much because of injuries as anything else.
So, I think there have been subtle changes here and there that have made a difference. |

a Trouba trade with you guys might come down to how close some of your best prospects like Frost are to contributing or where you land in the draft. Would you consider moving someone like Couts or Patrick straight up for like you said your new top pair Right Side D? or maybe Phillipe Myers plus makes more sense? Flyers fans might say no but I know Jets fans will balk at Laughton plus or Morin plus. I love what Calgary got for Hamilton, don't see us getting that for Trouba but I can dream. |
