Nope, not guaranteed at all.
But I guarantee you we’d have Schenn now for a lot less time than a Schenn we get to draft and develop.
But hey, let’s keep that window with an 18 year old Dahlin and 22 year old Eichel short and load up on late-twenties big contracts - sbroads24
SO we are just ignoring the two other first round picks they have where the Sabres can both get Schenn now and a Schenn later, like you say?
SO who is keeping the window short, because right now the Sabres are not even close, next year marginal improvement, still not even close.
So three years out we have all the prospects ready to come up, and maybe make a difference? |
|
|
|
They definitely won’t work out and if they do they definitely won’t be NHL’ers until they are 22.
I’m sold - sbroads24
Just look at all the Conn Smyth hardware Ennis, Girgensons, Pysyk, and Griegerenko have!!! |

I'm gonna need a bottle of jame-o, a pot of Colombian black high test, and 2 packs of Marb reds with the filters ripped off. We'll figure this out |

Again no one (At least not me) is saying load up and just trade everything away.
1 of 3. still 2 other first round picks to take players. |

The Sabres are in a great position to do both
Fill the system with multiple first round picks
Trade a first round pick for an established good, NHLer.
Help now, and help later.
Why would you not do that?
Im lost. |

That's absolutely fine. I kind of figure Botts is dangling one. No issues there. Was responding to Rip and his literal "trade all" takes. |

Then provide an example of a player who would cost a total insignificant draft pick between 20-27 straight up?
Or are we adding pieces to further hurt our depth?
What really good player that isn’t late twenties is only going to cost a late-first ? |

NO WAY!!! draft!! just think if we would have had 12 first rounders in 2013 we could have filled our team with Ryan Pulock, Mirco Mueller, Emile Poirer, Hunter Shinkaruk, Morgan Kilmchuk, Jason Richardinson, and Ryan Hartman!!! Its virtually a future Hall of Fame Ballot

I need that table cleared and placed in front of Whip with a chair behind it;
I need a glass of water;
I need a credit card; and
I need a hundred dollar bill.
I have a Twenty.

it's a slippery slope
purge half the roster, or stay the course
1 or 2 moves, no matter how big they may be, will not put us remotely close to the bolts or leafs
I still say let the season play itself out and sell scrubs
use the off season to make a few splashy moves and build the prospect pool, mostly due to tim murray f@cking the team up |

itll cost a first PLUS...but a lot of people say "DONT TRADE THOSE PICKS".....
Id give one of those and Olaffson, or Guhle, or Nylander for Schenn, or Rickard Rackell, or Thonas Hertl
Couturier or Duchene Id give almost all of those. |

Don't know, no one does. but i am exploring if i am JB.
Im a little confused by your strategy too.
You'd trade a guy like McCabe, good contract, solid top 6 d-man for forward depth, but not a first round pick.
Youd trade risto for forward depth, but not a first round pick. |

And in 2014, you could have had Kapanen, Pastrnak and Larkin with just 3 picks. Fabbri, Schmaltz, Kempe or Goldobin wouldn't be bad here right now either if we "missed"
Cherry picking isn't difficult...
2015 - Barzal, Connor, Chabot, Boeser, White, Konecny, Roslovic, Beauvillier, Samsonov...all past pick 15. All would be GREAT additions to this team. |

Kapanen was considered a bust for years.
I am not touching him if i am any team.
He is going to get over paid and under produce, IMO. |
