Anyone else watch the Sportnet broadcast last night? Friedman and the cast must of brought up the Pens and Ferland 3 or 4 times. Also, yesterday on my lunch break I was watching Hockey Central at noon and they were talking about Ferland and the Pens. They were saying that Ferland was injured and missed games on a recent road trip and that the Canes probably want to get rid of him sooner than later in case he's injured again. - MattStrat
I didn't but there's a lot of people thinking Ferland would be a good fit here. |

The belief there was they knew they weren’t going to re-up him and they got Nino as his top 6 replacement so they’re ready to move him |

By all accounts the Penguins are the front runners, but it seems like they haven't met the Hurricanes price yet otherwise it would be done by now.
I think Waddell is holding out to try and squeeze more out of other teams if he can, likely to see if he can't get a prospect they really want rather than whoever the Penguins are going to throw their way because, honestly, you guys don't have a lot. |

Yes. While still looking to move a defenseman for another forward.
Nino's better than Ferland anyway. |

There's definitely fire. Canes want to get this done ASAP.
Just don't sign him to a big contract after Sid makes him look like he's worth $7 mill per. |

Ask was a 1st and a Prospect by most accounts.
They're looking to accumulate more futures they can use in a package with one of their RHD to land a big name forward. |

Oh dear haha...not too many goodies around.
If the Pens managed to get Ferlend and Faulk somehow....that would be something.
How about the Pens 1st and some of the three 4ths for this years draft?
A roster player would have to go other way from Pens as well.
EDIT: Ferland's cap his is only 1.75?...they wouldn't need to send a roster player I dont think.
Anyone know the Pens official cap space when Schultz is back? |

Well luckily Johnson’s anchor of a contract makes it literally impossible to afford another anchor contract. |

Yeah Ferland's contract is dirt cheap.
Canes aren't giving up Faulk unless they can get a legit top 6 F back. |
