3rd and 4th lines maybe, but look at Vegas, they are the counterpoint, they just out skated every team and those big physical guys were left in the dust.
They had some grit, but it was 4th line guys. - ImThatGuy
Right. They had both as well. |

EDIT: I'm not suggesting we should be using all the picks in trades all the time. But prudent use of picks as currency is an effective way of building a team. - Der Kaiser
I'm on-board with your Edit.
Judicious use is the key.
The other night, once again several posters were posting a strategy that would make Murray look like Darcey curled up in a corner whimpering.
No avenue should be ignored to improve this team. |

The Sabres are in a different position now. Assuming they re-sign Skinner, they have him, Eichel, Dahlin and Reinhart in place. Add in Mitts and Ullmark if you want them for this.
When Murray went coocoo for cocoa puffs and traded for Kane, ROR and Lehner, we had Eichel and Reinhart. The Sabres are in a better position to add a player to help them, similar to what Pittsburgh did with fat man Phil - jcragcrumple
Again, Tim Murray was an idiot.
He was Chias equivalent.
He is now gone.
People need to get over what he did to this team.

70% chance that pick plays less than 50 games in the NHL and amounts to nothing.
Use it on a team that needs to clear cap space. (Tampa, Toronto)
People act like I am talking about trading that pick for Bobby Freaking Ryan. - ImThatGuy
Please refrain from associating tbe word "Freakin" to anyone other than Matt Freakin Ellis.
Severe internet penalties will follow the next abuse, including a person visit from Chuck Noris |

So you'd rather trade three assets, two of which are going to see playing time next year. (1st rd, and 2 2nds)
rather than a 27 pick.
This makes zero sense. - ImThatGuy
I'm assuming you are referring to Guhle and Nylander.
I'm thinking there is a stronger chance neither sees the Sabres organization after the Draft.
Sell Nylander now, he is proving to be a career AHLer.
Guhle I'd be ok retaining, but he's a Murray guy which is a mark on him. |

Both those guys have potential to become something more.
If I move those 2. I would want top 6 talent coming back in that deal or I hang up.

You do realize the chance at the 27th OA pick has about a 20% chance (And that may be high) to become even a fringe NHLer. |

Kyle Okposo says Hello - SABRES 89
Correct, but there is nothing we, nor the Sabres can do about that now.
Murray signed him, Botts has to deal with it.
Murray can no longer give out those contracts because he is no longer the GM of teh Sabres.
His effects are still felt, but he can no longer do any damage. |

If the right player comes along, absolutely.
IE)
Brayden Schenn
Cedir Paquette
Brayden Point
JT MIller
Ryan Nugent Hopkins
Or a young(25 and under) under contract 2nd line center. |

RW is just as dire as C imo, maybe moreso. Could cost less to acquire one as well |

If the flames wanted to part with him, then sure. They'd probably want 1 or 2 guys back for a playoff push |

I’m still waiting to see what team is going to trade us a 23 year old stud for our first rounder. Homie mentioned Kempe yesterday and I like the idea of him but I think we could get him for Nylander, Guhle and a 2nd. - Pegullaville
So here is the remarkable circularity of your argument. The post suggests that Kempe is not worth a low first rounder.
Nylander was a high first rounder, Guhle was a mid 2d rounder, and youre throwing in another second to boot.
You yourself have proven the illusory value of picks.

ROR goes to STL and all of the sudden there is an article that the Blues may have turned on their captain.
Sounds weird. |

Careful there! And not suggesting you were guilty, because you generally are non-critical of other posters...but...
A month - 6 weeks ago I posted that JBotts should be selling those 4 and possibly more as my strategy during this Year of Transition and was roundly ridiculed for suggesting anyone would want Pommer and that Botts would NEVER trade his good friend in Pommer.
Funny how that has now changed.
to all the nay-sayers - IonSabres
I'm probably behind the jbotts wond trade a friend .
I'm also behind, if the Sabres wouldn't want pommer , who else would?
He kinda hasn't been scoring in months.
Who's tradition a 2nd or 3rd for him?
Maybe Minnesota |

Teams trade for depth every year at the TDL.
I believe Pommer, Scandella, Bowl-U are all moved.
Conditional 1st all the way.
3rd rd pick
If player x plays 10 games and team x makes it to the Conference Final it becomes a 2nd
If player x plays 10 games and team x makes it to the SCF it becomes a 1st |

I do.
Nylander has about 5% at this point.
Guhle, I'm willing to wait on another season, cause he is z D-man who take longer. |
