I agree, but I'm a pommer fan.
Seems like people talk out of both sides of their mouth.
Pommer-should be scratched. He hasn't done anything
Pommer - is worth a 2nd or 3rd if we retain salary
Cant be both....
He's either good in my opinion or no team would want him? - Boss34
When you hold salary it ups the ante...IMO he's worth no more then a 4th at best then holding salary may make it a conditional 3rd if he plays so many playoff games

According to Capfriendly, they are at $73 million (not $80}, with 16 players signed (not 14), and Bettman is projecting the cap to rise to $83 million - Powerslave
Jesus Christ...you're using facts here, WTF.
just make crap up to support the narrative |

Looked at the wrong line.
ok so $73MM with
10 forwards
4 Dmen
2 goalies signed.
Point is getting 7MM minimum.
so there is 80
Paquette is getting 4MM
there is 84
Still need 3 d-men and 2 forwards.
So the somehoe move out Callahan.
back to 79 but now need 3 d-men and 3 forwards.
it does not work. someone has to be moved. |

14 skaters signed like he said and 2 goalies. Point will probably be $7m+ to resign, so that will leave them with about $3m to sign 5-6 guys.
Edit: Late |

Which still leaves Paquette unsigned.
Who again is getting 4MM himself.
Also, NHL minimum is 700K i believe, so eve if they wanted to fill everything with minimums, it still does not work. |

They have challenges, yes.
That's why the GM's make the big bucks. I'm sure Brisebois has a plan. |

Its not even a challenge, its impossible to do without moving two high priced players off of that roster.
I see Point getting upwards of 8-9MM
He is the 3rd leading point Center. |

Whichever one doesn't have an NTC, and whose salary is lower than their cap hit will go to AZ for a semi-retirement
A quick look says it will be JT Miller |

Correct, someone has to be moved.
Coburn and Girardi expiring contracts are $6.7m
Callahan, while difficult is another $5.8m with 1 year left (that is nownere near Okposo)
Johnson has been rumored for awhile, they could get a bundle for him and plug a spot or 2
Cernak is ready to play full-time on D, and Cal Foote is developing.
They are fine. |

This is wrong, just wrong.
Their two moves are Coburn and Girardi...$6.7m savings
Backfill with 2 D in system now on ECLs (Cernak, Foot)
Likely move is trade or buyout of Callahan that is another ~$3.5 - $5.8m
Backfill with Martel, Joseph
Cap goes up by $3 - $4
Problem fixed
They may move Johnson as has been rumored to fill a hole in a hockey trade.
Nice to have that flexibility when you have a O that has a +54 goal differential.

bolts are so loaded
they will be fine in the short term
I don't see them having any issues until 20-21 when they have to deal with Vasilevskiy, Sergachev, Cernak, Joseph and Cirelli |

They better hope they are the healthiest team in the league next year if they want to keep it all in tact.
Doing so leaves them maybe 150K for call ups and roster moves throughout the year. |

If you're a contender with precious little cap space, is Pommer the guy you want to use it on? Probably not. You have better targets.
Even if the Sabres retain 50%, there's very few viable teams for him. |

Lack of toughness is already a problem up front.
Now you want to trade mccabe? |
