McCabe is a true homegrown Sabres prospect that has turned into a nhl professional hockey player.
Core guy who's affordable.
I'd be shocked if he is traded. Solid 4/5/6 defenseman with some grit and toughness - Boss34
I like McCabe alot.
He is one player I think has alot of value to bring back scoring talent, especially since his new contract would not be crazy
Who else is going to be desired to bring such talent that is reasonably priced?
I'm not advocating moving him.
That trade was thrown out there as a placeholder to illustrate what ig would cost go get a guy like that, in contrast to a suggestion that the 27OA could grab a guy like Point or RNH. |

So here is the remarkable circularity of your argument. The post suggests that Kempe is not worth a low first rounder.
Nylander was a high first rounder, Guhle was a mid 2d rounder, and youre throwing in another second to boot.
You yourself have proven the illusory value of picks.
IM LATE - Der Kaiser
I would move the late first rounder for Kempe but I value it more then Nylander, Guhle and a late 2nd so I’d rather move those assets as we know what we have with those specified players. |

Alrighty then.
Playing oldies is showcasing them for moves.
Tough balancing act. - IonSabres
Hutton isn't getting traded. He's a good #2 for ullmark. They seem like buddies.
Phil is playing the veteran. Maybe he didn't watch the last 2 games?
Ullmark has earned the start.

Hutton tonight

Ullmark played great in the 1-0 loss.
Again, Ullmark 2/3, Hutton 1/3 the rest of the season. |

McCabe definitely has value, but hes the type of player we should be trading for.....
Young tough nhl veteran defenseman
He actually plays defense, the rest of the guys are pretty much offensive defenseman
Not sure what bogo is..... he can go
Overpaid
Injury prone
Terrible hockey IQ |

10 players from that 2nd round are NHL regulars. Another 2 are backup goalies on NHL teams. Another is a goalie prospect in the AHL.
Rare is an understatement. 2nd rounders can become NHL’ers.
The strength of draft matter. |

I meant rare for the Sabres. It's McCabe, Pominville and a whole lotta nothing. We suck after the 1st round |

Brassard has been traded three times in the last 4 years. 3 of those trades have included a first rounder if I’m not mistaken but might have to check for validity. |

Trade Reinhart for a 1st
Bogo for a 2nd
scandella for a 3rd
Sobodka for a 4th
Skinner for two firsts
Nylander for a 2nd
McCabe for a 2nd
All the draft picks = instant success. No? |

The Panthers are already working on moving Brassard elsewhere, though not sure anything's imminent on that front right now. He will be moved again at some point before trade deadline.

IF Florida moves that 2nd rd pick + to Columbus for Panarin they are stupid.
They have about a 1% chance of drafting someone who will be just as good, if not better than Panarin in 3-5 years.
and he wont cost 9MM per season.

Panarin is an elite player.... big difference between trading for Panarin then it would be Couterier who is maybe, maybe a top 25 C in the league. I would rather draft a guy who could produce on my team in 2-3 years then have a 30 year old Couts who might be a shell of his former self by the age of 32 and now we have another Okposo on our hands for the last 3 years of his deal. Even if that first rounder turns out to be a utility 3rd liner that’s at least one spot on the lineup filled by a cost efficient player.

Taresenko for Guhle, Nylander STL 1st, Moulson, and Pommer at 50% retained.

Couturier is actually an example of a player I would do it for. But he’s right on the brink in terms of age.
But the thing is they aren’t trading him for what we can offer IMO |

Even if our 4 first rounders in this and next years draft amount to 3 3rd line players and another Girgensons type for the 4th line. Then at least that’s 4 players making less than 4M a year. Then you can sign big ticket free agents while having a boatload of cap hooked up to Eichel, Dahlin, Skinner (possibly), Reinhart and Risto.
How’s that for Logic ? |

Yes but trading for a top 5 player is different then trading for Couterier. I like Couterier as well, no hate against the player but Panarin is something else. |

And when you use picks to acquire established specified players you know what you have with them too! That's why picks are appropriate currency to be used to acquire players. |

doesn't make much sense for panthers, unless they are getting a first and few seconds back - homiedclown
Bjugstad has 5 goals this year
Just never really turned into the dominant power forward they thought he’d be
I think he’s been playing on the wing a lot the past few years too
Guessing the Pens will try him back at Center
Florida probably trades Brassard for whatever they can get
