I think we are guaranteed to use 3/4 firsts. Only one in doubt is the Sharks pick and that still has many variables and I think odds are we keep it unless we can obtain a player that can be with us for a long time.

Elie is a better player and prospect than O'Regan though.

Who the 3 post-deadline call ups are is far more interesting to me. I assume Smith is getting another call up. Does Nylander get his annual look? Olofsson? Asplund? Guhle/Borgen/Dougherty?

Toffoli and Kempe doesn't solve our center problem

Also why waste draft picks to get rid of Okposo when he isn't the problem with the team. He is still serviceable and until it is a cap problem why give away draft picks.

We may have a chance for a compliance buyout in the off season if the NHL or NHLPA choose to renegotiate the CBA.

So
1- IF he turns into Sean Coutrier, sure I'm all over it...but will he is the question. If they are buying low and not risking much, I'm in...but they are placing an if-come bet.
2 - will he immediately get PP time here? Doubtful. So, it doesn't change here, right? (not that the PP is great cause it has taken a big step backwards, but who is he replacing?)
3 - Are you then assuming he jumps to 2C? Else he will be behind Jack and Mitts, which is again a similar situation.

I'm not against the trade, especially if it involves dumping Sobotka, and If Nylander is included I have not regrets there either. But, they are betting on the future with him.
