Again, it's your right as a fan to complain.
Have at it.
I never once defended Housley, other than he was at the top of the coaching candidate list. - Powerslave
Boo birds have been coming out lately. It is not just my right as a fan.
X amount of Boo birds = fired |

Why do people think the GM isn't a part of lineup decisions and the owner isn't a part of coaching decisions? These guys do talk.... |

Yet you keep doing it. You must be the expert here.
You are right. I think your solution is best.
Lets wait for one of those 3 1sts to pan out 4 years from now. - sabresfan69
2 years from now * and in the short term sign Nyquist, Dzingel, Johansson, to fill roles on the team. As soon as next year Pominville and Moulson are off the books. Next plan on the agenda should be shipping off Scandella, Beaulieu and Sobotka. There are ways to improve the team even if Botts doesn’t sign any of the above players I mentioned without deleting our draft picks/young core. You can try to win now, or win from now on. If you want to be shortsighted then be my guest but don’t blame Botts for the mistakes of prior management. |

They can be a part of the decision but in the end the fans boo and when you lose and they boo
Coaches get fired and GMs get fired.
Its just the way it works. When Housley and Botts are here next year and we are still a bad team what do you think the fans in the arena will be doing? |

Not interested in speculation. Maybe there is aliens and bigfoot.
Botts is the GM. The team he ices and the coach is his responsibility.
Botts will get next year too. Housley probably wont. - sabresfan69

Not sticking up for Botts, but there were trades to be made with who exactly?
There are far too many teams not sure of whether they're buyers or sellers. - Powerslave
The fact is, we don't know either way do we?
Of course he is going to tell you that he has no dance partner.
That's what all failures say.
You entice them to dance.
Respectfully, it's like failure is passed out like candy here in this city and we are all just supposed to be quiet and eat it.
I don't buy the "I didn't have a dance partner" excuse any more.
Other franchises always seem to find a dance partner.
Our GM selection has been weak for a long long time.
Too long! |

Oh thats on Botts. Botts is the GM. You get praise for your choices you get fired for your choices.
I am not sure how old you are. You seem like under 30 but its not important.
When you are a manager success and failure falls completely on your shoulders and no excuse will save you. - sabresfan69
Oh, now we're going to be condescending? Get over yourself.
I'm 47. I've seen more (frank)ing games than many on here. I'm in management also, in my professional life. My dad and two uncles worked for the Sabres in the 70's and 80's. I have a foundation in hockey and in life for my opinions on this team.
But...
I don't hop on here like you're doing right now, pulling a "Jeremy White" trying to force feed my opinion down people's throats as if it's the only one that's right, asking people their (frank)ing age, as if that (frank)ing matters.
Last time I checked, you weren't the gm of a professional sports team, either.
Have a good night, Jeremy.

Pegula does have his hand in everything.
Good and bad.
There was some speculation of pegula asking jbotts "if he minded if we hired a hockey czar" when he hired botts.
Phil has no past with jbotts. Unless I'm mistaken.
Jbotts- tocchet was speculated

Jesus you people are sensitive. You are the one who doesn't think Botts is responsible for the coach and team. |

You can say Pegula has his hands in everything but if Botts misses the playoffs for 4 years he is fired.
If Housley misses the playoffs for 3 years he is fired.
This is year 2 the way it is looking

He is responsible for the hire, yes.
But, ONCE AGAIN, Phil was at the top of that list. What part of that don't you understand? |

The top the bottom the middle its not relevant where the coach he hired is on some list.
New GMs get one maybe two coaching hires and if they fail they are fired.
I wanted Botts to succeed. Its not going well.
My point being is Botts is trending down and Housley really down. |

People here can't seem to comprehend we have no 2nd line center.
If we had a center prospect then things would be much clearer.
There is no 2c/3c for next year either.
We must either trade for one, sign one through UFA or go with Sobotka as our 2C/3C again next year.
Those are our options,
Can people agree on that or is that too difficult to understand? - sabresfan69
I'm with you 100% on the common sense thingy. |

We don’t know Botts’ plan. What I do know right now is that he isn’t panicking and making a reaction move to make the playoffs. What I do know is that we just lost 7-3 to a bottom dweller at home when we are 4 points out of a playoff spot. What I do know is that the leafs have 2x the roster we have and have yet to win a playoff series. We can load up on draftpicks and sign free agents in the short term to be perannial playoff contenders. One thing we can agree on is our coaching staff is clueless. I hope at the very least Davis Payne gets the pink slip next year. I’d love Quennville behind the bench but I could also see Housley getting one more year. |

How is Botts trending down? Are YOU doing his mid-year evaluation on behalf of TPegs?
They are 3 points out of a playoff spot, after finishing dead last.
Looks like progress to me.
And just because Botterill doesn't share his plan with you, he must not be doing his job, then?

He isn't panicking but also how do you know he isn't paralyzed with fear of making a mistake.
Botts has made some mistakes he is a rookie GM. I am not sure I can go with blind faith. |
