Sense of reason.

Personally, this is the last year of tank talk from me but for good reason. This team is mediocre at best. I’d rather flat out suck then be mediocre. I’d rather suck then try to rush a playoff race only to hurt our team when we have the kind of roster to be in the top percentile of the league.

It worked for Pittsburgh. They have 3 cups to show for it. I sure like watching Eichel, Dahlin, Reinhart (more then I did 2 months ago), and Mittelstadt. If anything, the 10 game winning streak might have screwed us out of one of Hughes or Kakko and I’d put all our chips into the basket starting next year.

And once again, some may not be here for the next 5 years or even next year for that matter.

I’d argue that the Sabres had the second most successful season of NHL franchise last year. With Eichel and Dahlin you are perennial playoffs contenders starting next year (if not this year if they go on a miraculous run and prove me wrong).

An offer sheet is the one exception in my eyes. Adding one of Marner or Laine changes things. I’d then move Reinhart to get another Centreman once his deal is up after the following season. We would still retain the Blues first rounder and SJS so we draft twice this year. Adding a 21-22 year old superstar would be worth it.
