An offer sheet is the one exception in my eyes. Adding one of Marner or Laine changes things. I’d then move Reinhart to get another Centreman once his deal is up after the following season. We would still retain the Blues first rounder and SJS so we draft twice this year. Adding a 21-22 year old superstar would be worth it. - Pegullaville
Sounds great in a forum.
To wrench Laine, Marner, Mathews, any of that type you are going $12-$13m more?, and signing Skinner for $8+m. And giving up 4 1sts so there goes the pipeline.
Good luck.
Go get Stone at $10m and save the 4 1st, god knows they will need them. |

Stay the course.
Make a deadline deal...1 player, check
Drain the Swamp as much as possible
Draft well, fill the pipeline
Sign a good FA for top 6, sign another 3rd 4th liner, 1-2 players, check
Make a offseason Hockey trade, 1 player, check
There's 3-4 players...promote 1 - 2 from Rochester.
Compete. - IonSabres

If I may offer a different perspective as an outsider. the long time sabres fans need to let the last 45 year go. murray left a steaming pile of feces behind him. Give Botteril another off-season to clean up. He has the Sabres moving in the right direction.
it would be shortsighted to give up a 1st for a rental at this point in the process. the notion it will take 4-5 years for a draft choice to help is not relevant in this NHL. the league is getting younger every season.
JMO. and if this helps, i waited every one of those 49 (frank)ing years for the Hawks to finally win a Cup. |

He’s having quite possibly the best season of his career. But he’s 31 next year. If we were on the Leafs level I’d do it, just like how the Pens went and got Kessel, but we aren’t on that level. |

Nothing like waiting 5-6 more years. Draining the swamp you say, gotta give a 1st and a player to do that. - SABRES 89
Gotta do it anyway right?
OS doesnt change a thing in that regard.
But OS gets rid of the picks to drain it.
I'd love to see an offer sheet when the team is that 1 player away and can live for 3-4 years without the pipeline to infuse talent.
Would you say they are there now? |

I’d be moving one of Skinner or Reinhart once Dahlin and Mitts are due for their deals. Could recoup those picks in a trade in return for those guys. |

Pegula loves P Kane and wants him here but that's not gonna happen. - SABRES 89 no reason for the Hawks to move Kane. He is going to be effective for a long time.
Sabres might have the assets for Kane but it would set them back years. |

Eichel is almost willing the Sabres to the playoffs by himself this year. Imagine when Dahlin is a top 5 d-man in the NHL (I think he could by the end of the year next year). We are a perennial playoff contender with those two alone. Adding a Marner/Laine to that to play with Jack makes him even better. Reinhart is out the door though forsure and he recoups those picks we lost or gets us the depth we’ll need. But it’s a pipe dream. I do agree with your way of going about this year otherwise as you know if you read any of my posts the last few weeks. |

We're talking about actually signing someone to an offer sheet and it not being matched. No one is concerned about odds. |

Odds on any offer sheet are low. Odds on JB being the guy is much lower. Odds on it not being matched are even lower.

Only players with a remote chance of not being matched are Laine and Marner and that’s due to the team cap situations. But I agree, it would be tough for any team not to match those deals. Us offering Marner 13M though to push the price up for the leafs would be glorious. |
