That’s fair I have been multi tasking....I base it off of seeing Lucic with McDavid anytime I do see that top line on the ice

I'm sure it's common in the NHL, but JVR holding Rattie's stick to hold him off is an odd image for a league trying to cut back on holding and obstruction.

Gotta imagine that's a painful loss after putting their all in for the first two periods of their first game back in an afternoon, but that's what happens when your PK is awful. There's no reason it should be this bad and yet...

Puju with the second lowest ice time in the game....he would be a pretty good addition to a Condors team that’s rolling right now

As stated I was multitasking....I did catch the 3rd goal I believe where Talbot didn’t have much of a chance.....where the other 3 just bad coverage or bad goaltending? Both?

Don't know that I'd place blame on him for any but the Giroux goal. That was a squeaker that got past him, but the rest were out-muscled or out-manned Dmen near the net.

They just keep finding ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory....I suppose they could salvage this if they can get 2 points tomorrow....I’m curious to see how they come out and play in the 1st

This team is going nowhere with the current defense. The PK was horrible, but if our Dmen can't win the corner battles...and can't win the slot battles...what else is there? (They can't score either).

This is probably the most disappointed I have ever been in Benning, terrible game.

..and Russell...always good for 5 or 6 blocked shots but also picking himself up off of the ice after 2or3 goals against. I'm getting rather tired of that routine also.

Hard to be positive after this game.

How specifically was Benning's play "awful" tonight? Aside from the Giroux goal where his failed clear led to the chance and he somewhat screened Talbot, I'm having a tough time recalling anything especially ineffective about his play.

You mention Russell in far less negative light than Benning despite his being on for 3 of the goals against and being the main goat on the OT winner. And no mention of Nurse's gaffes on the PK (which have consistently plagued him).

Positives are I like how they came out and really dominated the play for a while....I think I heard the shots were 16-2 at one point? Other guys getting on the scoreboard was a good thing as well

I mentioned the entire D-corps. Benning's play around the boards that led to a goal was enough to have him sit the rest of the game. He didn't just lose his man, get out-worked etc. He had time, lots of time, and that was what he chose to do. Very different than Nurse making the wrong split second decision in front of the net while he's under the gun because the fwds don't do their jobs. But yeah, they were all terrible.

The OT goal was all on McDavid actually...as much as I love the kid, he did his usual flyby and started blowing the zone early...and left his man open in the slot.

I definitely think Nurse deserves harsher words than Benning. Benning wasn't free of all pressure as Couterier was circling the net as he got it, but I agree he could've made a better play. Nurse and Russell's shortcomings are on the backs of consistent misreads, over-committing and neglecting the back door play. Over and over ad nauseum. Benning is consistently engaged and- when played where he should be- he doesn't make those glaring mistakes nearly often enough for me to worry too much.

McDavid was culpable in that, for sure but that's the balance in 3-on-3 with him on the ice. It's the razor's edge balancing act that is 3-on-3 OT. What isn't a part of the balance is getting easily bullied off the puck because you tried to hold on to the puck too long instead of skating, passing the puck back to your goalie or getting it out of danger while your linemates change.
