Everyone go hire the next McVey so you can have 50 years offense at the half in the Super Bowl
- Pegullaville

50? He's like 33.

A shakeup for sure. Losing Pommer and Moulson salaries will help. Losing Okposo and Bogo would reinvent the team with the cap space available
- jcragcrumple

It makes a lot of sense to move Okposo and make it so the other team wins in the deal, we will have to give up and over pay but it will be worth it.

Every team has bad contracts.

We have cap space. Okposo can still score 30 points.

Okposo is a problem for sure. I'd love to see him leave on his own accord. He has to feel quilty taking that money with his production level since the concussion. Kimmie should offer him a sweet multi-million dollar deal in the organization for a couple years to entice his retirement. Maybe we could all contribute to a GoFundMe fan-buyout!

They have other trash to take to the curb as well...Botts can certainly focus on those in the meantime.

Homie... the 72-73 season was "magical" in a sense. The third season in the franchise existence. Winning a game 5 playoff in Montreal against a better club in that time. Fans packed in for game 6, and even though they loss, there was hope. 1973-74 Perreault broke his leg and the season was loss there. 1974-75 was great. With better coaching and a younger healthier Roger Crozier, they could have beaten Philadelphia besides the brilliant goaltending of Bernie Parent. After that from 1976 to 1980 it seemed the "desire" was not there as they got beaten out in early rounds. In 1980, they just simple lost to a better hockey club, the Islanders, who eventually won 4 cups in a row. I feel bad for Gil Perreault the most because he was the best player on the club from the start until his retirement and did not win a cup.

He can still play so retirement isn't an option. He just needs to go

This is contradictory. If it's worth it then its not an overpayment.

Looking forward to hearing SpongeBob's "Sweet Victory" during halftime.

I agree, but all teams have a bum or 2.

Sj (1st) and okposo for a 7th?

That's basically giving kane away to take okposo.

I'm not sure if I would do that? Maybe

I’m so happy the Broncos hired Fangio. Defense wins Super Bowls all day long.

Are you being intentionally dense? The last 10 Super Bowls starting last year had 74, 62, 34, 52, 51, 65, 38, 56, 48 and 50 points. 2 outta 10 ain't bad.

It's complex.
If the Sabres had a young, ECL line that could produce adequately to reduce the need to acquire talent through the high cost FA route, then they could absorb Okposo's contract on L4 for a year or two. If they had Mtts, Tage and say Nylander each producing .... this is what makes it so frustrating waiting for Nylander to take his sweet-ass time developing into a 2nd line AHL playet

I guess the way I see that, keep the 1st, play both players, $7m / 2 players, $3.5m per player just to keep him on the 4th line.

Or trade him and the 1st and need to fill two players on the roster, which would most likely be ~$4m or more (total). So I am not sure I move him if the cost is a 1st. I would rather buy him out.

Good points

I've suggested a buy out. But I think it's a pretty stiff penalty.

A 1st is a tough pill to swallow. Especially in a strong draft.

D's outplaying the O's.
I suspect some points are coming more than the 1st half has yielded...but Defensive game.

I don’t think I want a buyout (due to stiff cost) but I would rather than trading a 1st.

It is tough, even burying in AHL will only save ~$1m and that is what you pay the replacement player, so almost better to just keep on 4th line, cause I doubt any team would want to take him on.

This game is, sure, but recent history, the last 10 years says offense, overwhelmingly. It's like hockey, when a team wins by being physical, everyone tries to get physical, when they win by scoring they try and go all offense... Belichick got smoked last year, he's having his way this year, so far.

We have some young guys that are cost controlled too.
If okposo could just score 15 /25 = 40 points.

If his salary kept us from resigning skinner, maybe I would do a 1st?
