Take a look at the AFC championship games/Super Bowls the Pats lost with the exception of the Eagles game (who had a darn good defense until that game) all the teams had top notch defenses. Giants twice, Broncos on their way to Super Bowl 50, Ravens with Ed Reed and Joe Flacco, Pittsburgh Steel curtain. We just witnessed the lowest scoring super bowl ever and all the hoopla in the NFL this year has been about offense. If the Bears field goal kicker could put the ball through the uprights how do we know they aren’t in the Super Bowl this year ? If the Ref calls pass interference the Saints are in the Super Bowl and they had an unbelievable defense this year.

Losing by a touchdown gets your ass kicked ? Eagles won that game by getting a strip sack if I remember correctly ? The eagles don’t make the super bowl without that Jim Schwartz coached defense.

Barry Trotz has the Isles first place in the Metroploitan conference last time I checked. Won the cup last year with the Caps. To make it to the cup final they held the lightning to 3 shots in the 3rd period in a game where they were leading after two in Game 7.

The Saints were 14th in scoring defense, hardly unbelievable. The Bills allowed 1.3 more points per game.

If allowing 48 points in week 1 is the outlier, if I said they had a top 10 defense from week 2 on would that make you feel better ? Regardless you made your point. I think offenses get you to the dance but ultimately defense wins the big game. If offense was the end to be all, Brady wouldn’t have as many Super Bowl rings as Brees, Peyton, Rodgers, Big Ben and Rivers combined.

I think we can agree that Bill defended Rivers, Mahomes, and Goff better then anyone else this year in the 3 consecutive playoff games.

I saw that too. He always said Jokinen would sign with the Sabres, for like 2 years (during the tank years). Pretty funny.
