Good question. I would be interesting to see the metrics on our defense for the first 33 games and the last 20 games. LBR where are you when we need you. (My guess is she is now employed by an NHL team or the like in their Advanced Metrics Department.) - -Doh-
L_B_R was on the Second City Hockey blog over the weekend. She had a long back and forth with another poster who was really an a**hole. |

Scott Power just tweeted that he asked Seabrook about being asked to waive his NMC and Seabrook said he wasn't asked. What gives? There is often the feeling there is some underlying subterfuge with the Hawks front office even when there is no direct proof. - EbonyRaptor
I'm ok with that If it took Tervainen to unload Bickell it will take Debrincat or Jokiharju to move Seabrook which isn't worth it. |

Apparently the Jet's 1st round pick is available (shocker )
Anisimov and a 3rd for the Jets 1st. |

That would be a good deal for the Hawks to lose AA's salary and free up some walking around money. |

Yeah, some of the posters in the trade Seabrook camp should be careful what they wish for. The Hawks will either have to get a comparably bad contract back, like Lucic, or have to package some prospects and picks.

Seabrook hasn’t been great, but I don’t think he’s as bad as some people make him out to be. If Stan can maneuver through the cap while keeping Seabs on the team I’m ok with that.
I’m even more baffled about the desire to trade Keith. Sure, if he brings back a king’s ransom then deal him. Otherwise what’s the point? How does a 2nd round pick and a B level prospect make the team better? The Hawks can gain cap space other ways (ie expiring contracts and trading AA) so they don’t need to trade Keith. Plus, don’t we want guys like Keith around to help mentor the next wave of d-men? |

I was watching TSN before the Leaf game and Bob MacKenzie thinks that Kapanen signs with the Leafs at 2.75M per year over 3 to 4 years. Seems rather low to me. |

The NHLPA will make a recommendation not a decision. The decision is the player and his Agents. |

I Agree with all this . Don't believe Seebs was ever asked to wave his no move . And sometime I don't like Keith play ,but I think he is just a great competitor and you just can't teach that .The team would be far worse without Keith and Seebs .
And for what it worth my favorite game live was HAWKS Wings game 4 when Seebs went over to settle the Captain down . From my vantage point and state of mind I though Seebs was also getting a penalty .Lost it a little at the time . It all worked out in the end that year .. GO HAWKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Maybe for a 1-2 year deal, even that is low. Teravainen’s bridge deal a couple years ago was $2.86 million per year for 2 years. |

That was a great series. Seabs calming down Toews was the turning point. Then Seabs with the game 7 OT winning goal. |

Hit rate much higher with 1-5 picks when one sees this list:
2014 Class - Ekblad (1), Reinhardt (2), Drasiaitl (3)
2015 Class - McDavid (1), Eichel (2), Strome (3), Hanafin (5)
2016 Class - Matthews (1), Laine (2)
We have had eight years of drafting near the bottom and the evidence of effective selection from this staff is not promising, and not likely to change. Only hope to improve via draft is to draft high enough to select NHL-ready impact players. The odds overwhelmingly support a lottery pick as the highest chance of finding a diamond. - Return of the Roar
This is correct but I still have to disagree somewhat. We have had long years of mid-round picks that have resulted in a forward-pile and a defenseman-pile that has to be sorted out. It is really hard to keep the right 2 guys out of the pile of 20 that has been built but it can be done.
Draftwise, I think there is more depth than in the past when we ended up with less than stellar top 12 guys. If there is a run that falls short of the playoffs there will still be a player there at the Hawks pick. Just have to wait an extra year. |

Glad to see the Kings aren't tanking. 2 points for them tonight. They tied it in the last minute of regulation and won in OT. |

Ducks get blown out again 6-1 versus the Leafs. Gibson pulled for the second game in a row.
Wasn't it just a couple of years ago when everyone was raving about their young defensemen? They sure got bad in a hurry. |

Agreed, force TOR hand. They're strapped. Also, TB is up against the cap and Point is an RFA. Offer sheet both! |

Even AA and a 2nd for the jets 1st. Basically you move up a few slots in the draft and gain $4.5 mil in cap space.
