no he's not...but it's not killing the team this season, certainly not to the point where i'd give up a first-rounder plus to remove his hit...next year?...maybe, but there's still a lot of work to be done in the farm system and giving away a first-rounder doesn't help that situation at all - Michael Pachla
No but his 6 mil could be spent on two players that do better than “not kill them”

You absolutely give up a 1st round pick to move Okposo, if that's who you are talking about. We have 3 give 1 up to get rid of him and his contract and add if you have to. |

Is there an example where a team gave up a 1st to eat a 4 year contract?
Seems heavy, especially with a possible lockout and expansion in 2 years |

David Bolland I think had 4. It was 3 or 4. Wasn't a 1st, but Lawson Crouse who FLA just drafted in the 1st. |

he's fifth on the team in goals behind the top line and pommer...what would those two $3m guys be doing other than forcing another roster move?...
dude...I get it, but doing it this season makes no sense at all |

The Sabres will never pay Jeff Skinner the same money per year as Jack Eichel. |

First round picks are way too valuable. U should be using them to bring in high quality talent or keep them and draft. They are not throwaways to rid yourself of poopty contracts. |

I’m not trading a first, and I know you aren’t saying this necessarily but not killing them doesn’t equal playing well or up to what he’s being paid.
The Sabres should probably do anything they can outside of giving up a 1st to get out from that deal |

this is the datsyuk trade:
to Arizona--Datsyuk, 2016 1st-rounder (16th-overall,)
to Detroit-- Joe Vital, 2016 1st (20th,) 2016 2nd
marian hossa trade was a 7-player deal and involved a third rounder and a fifth rounder |

Wtf?
So AZ paid a 2nd to move up 4 places and take a dead contract?
That's a terrible deal for them |

It was a swing and a miss of a signing, but I agree at this point if you have to give a first to rid yourself of that contract, I would do it.

Great write up Michael:
Any of the "insiders" hear anything about-
Backlash from the players in regards to Berglund being waived.
I understand some of the "vets" weren't happy about berglund not being (suspended and helped) by the organization. Instead the Sabres jumped at the opportunity to cut him and his big $ contract
Whether a teammate "quits" or not, players put themselves in the other persons position. Some might not be happy to see a fellow teammate out millions of $.
I heard this a while back, now with the recent jbotts yelling at the entire team. Coaches may have felt the same way.
Since berglund left, I think were the worst team in the league.
Food for thought - Boss34
I brought up this same point a few weeks ago and some dildo on here came back with “Why would the Berglund situation look bad on the organization?”. |

Are you kidding me ... I wouldn't pay him over 7.5 mil a year...As someone always says on this BLOG, Sabres fans over estimate a players worth. He'll be 30 in 3 years and he still needs to learn to defend |
