Okay so I just caught the highlights; what in the goddam (frank) was Rattie doing on the Caggiula goal? Is he actually handicapped? Stays with his man on the rush then stares at the puck carrier as he's covered and leaves a passing lane WIIIIDE open with his stick ON the ice pointed toward his goalie with his back to Caggiula. That has to be among the single worst examples of defensive awareness/ability that I've ever seen.

I did a look back at our drafting record of who I wanted vs what we picked in the draft from 2010 till present. Thus proving it doesn't take much effort to draft better than the Oilers

I had very similar picks to you. I love Nuge but I was 100% sold on Landeskog. I remember seeing an interview with him and thinking that he was already a captain and already showing leadership qualities at 18yrs old. He's the captain we need(ed).

2016 was terrible! We could have drafted so much better.

I think he pulled him because he was pissed at him for allowing that backbreaker that opened up the floodgates. three or four big saves at 2-1 and the team could have possibly rallied around that. Instead, the boys were skating around thinking..."man, we're just doomed....we suck". etc. The whole team played horribly but a goaltender can set the mental tone of the game a lot of times. Talbot tends to dash the team's hoped more often than not. It's not so much the number of goals, but the timing of his gaffs is just really really bad. I actually feel bad for the guy, but he has to be better.

So question from a toronto fan, what's the word going in Edmonton these days? Any trades likely before the deadline?

Who is going to take Sekera? I loved the guy when he was in Raleigh but he hasn't really played much in two years and is almost 33 years old. Who knows how long it'll take him to get up to speed, if he ever does?

Benning isnt the smartest GM maybe he will? Usually guys are movable. Phaneuf has been moved twice when people thought his contract was impossible to move.

That would also be an option I can see happening. Hopefully you can find a home for Lucic and just retain some of his salary. Tough to do I know but maybe, somehow it can be done.
