Ruth was on the X yesterday and said he won't be trading for any wingers. I guess that leaves the door open for a center lol but I think top4 LD for Schultz should be the top target

Pens had some good chances off the beginning and then again when they pushed late in the game, but after the Canes first goal they kind of got rolling and Pittsburgh never really got going after that.

Slavin-Hamilton did a great job against Crosby.

I dunno who runs your D there, but if you have last change you probably shouldn't get caught with JJ and Petterson out there against Aho and Nino.

Svech didn't even want to celebrate his late goal. I think he was a bit surprised that nobody really tried to stop him at all.

- BINGO!

Yea Sully was trying to get Sid away from those two by putting him with Simon/Horny.

haha I'd probably do it. Isn't Green injured though?

Addison is the only piece I really care about there.

Green is back playing.

The forward lines are already in the blender with the 2 new in, 2 old gone and Geno out. I really dont think he should of F'd with them so much last night, especially splitting up Sid and Jake.

Makes sense. They played him hard. I dunno how many times Hamilton set up a road block and Slavin took the puck away when Sid had to try and go around him.

Solid. Positive Rel CF% (not end all be all). 19 points in 31 games heavily inflated by a 104.6 PDO.

He would be a great addition and could replace Schultz next year. Obviously my trade idea will never happen.

So far no one has joined me on the Pearson isn't that good bandwagon.... what is this 7 games in a row without a shot on goal?
- YouMeAndDupuis9

I agree, and was going to post this last night. He has not shown up at all, truly good or bad in weeks. I don't think this team will be able to do much come the playoffs, they haven't been gelling other than that 10 (?) game stretch. Was it just me or did Sid and Letang appear genuinely frustrated last night...not that they would be wrong. Sid, Letang, Jake, Rust (and not scoring per se but Horny) are the only ones bringing it every game. I like Teddy but feel he'll be the one to get sent down, along with Wilson...ironically 2 of the guys who have been bringing energy recently.

Phil is not himself at all, Geno hasn't been for weeks/months, Murray is just so hot and cold, the list goes on.

Maybe he was good and is just no longer at the peak age of 24...

I just think everything is a mess with the team's new additions trying to figure it out and Geno out. As bad as people are crapping on Geno he was still producing at an over PPG clip.

Pearsons slump does coincide with Malkins for the most part. Malkin slumped, then he is given to Brass... cant crucify him for that.

So, uh..... you guys really don't have any defensemen that are good at all other than Letang eh?

Lol at Riikola just kind of laying down and not doing anything to stop Svech from going to the net.

- BINGO!

Yeah I was waiting for Riikola to start doing pushups there

I also wonder if Sully has officially lost the room now...I mean the core is watching a revolving door of players recently and nothing sticks. He gives up on youth rather quickly (only lightning in a bottle type stuff) and keeps trotting out JJ/Cullen etc. If you've been there a while and see how poorly some of these guys are showing up, it's got to get to you.

Plus wasn't there a report of him and Sid going at it recently at practice?

True (re Brass), and man reading that article about him made me dislike him even more...I just never wanted that trade to go through from the get-go. As much as he was a pain to play against, I don't think he ever wanted to be here and certainly never appeared to gel with anyone.

There's no doubt in my mind Matthews (and his camp) only wanted 5 years so he has the option to get the F out of there if he want's all while upping his annual salary much more.
- MattStrat

Aside from Matthews, Dubas, and Analysts (so everyone) saying Matthews camp wanted 8 years but eventually settled on 5 too help keep the number down, you may be onto something

Yeah I just think that for only an additional 900k-ish a year, the Leafs would rather have him locked up 3 extra years...not to mention that if he does re up with the Leafs in 5 years his cap hit will probably be even more again.

I think NHL.com said he had 1 turnover last night. He had more then that in one shift I watched. He played his worst 5 min stretch I can remember as a Pen. That's saying something.

He came cross as a whiny kid. He make's it seem like they never gave him an opportunity for more ice with better players. He didn't earn anything on this team.

Yeah thats just not right.

Also worth noting is that I went to Natural Stat Trick after the first period to see the HDSC amounts , because the Pens had a lot...when I looked it was 8-3 in favor of the Pens. Today the total for the game is 11-6 for the Pens. It now says the HDSC were 3-0 Pens in the 1st, 7-4 in the 2nd Pens and 2-1 in the 3rd for Canes.

On a 8 year deal it was looking like 13+ million which just was too much for the Leafs. I don’t mind Matthews Marner JT getting their money, and cutting costs at the bottom of the line up. Want the whole contract circus the media is talking about everyday to be over already and just move on.

Exactly, before his tenure here I had always respected him as a competitor (on other teams) because he was tenacious and always played hard, but he came here and had this air of a diva.

I wouldn't look too much into that statement because if whatever the moves he's made haven't had any positive effect on the team he's open to more moves which is what he originally stated after the Brassard trade.

In general though I think he's done.
