Does Brookbank do pp? What was he doing in Rockford with JC?
Sidenote, we are almost at 1000 posts for this blog. - I Am The Breadman
Dunno about that Breadman, but last night you and I both agreed that we love Sheldon on our coaching staff. I never knew he had such a cool personality. "As long as you throw a cross check, you're alright by me", or something like that, hilarity. |

Hahaha! That's good!
I liked when Pat and Eddie first did the behind the bench interview with him before the 3rd period. He couldn't stop smiling, just ecstatic that he was behind the bench for the hawks. He's a good guy. |

Actually that interview is when he made that statement. He had another funny quote too. Sounds like a genuine guy, not just rolling out the same cliches'. I bet the guys like playing for him too. |

Must mean there is some heavy news in it? (or just trying to get closer to 1000).
Edit: I should have known the main page doesn't show the count accurately. Ok, I'm padding the stats |

That proves including bullpoop rumours isn't needed to generate interest. A good, well written, interesting blog can gererate interest and discussion.

D pairings once Joki gets recalled and someone on the back end is dealt?
Keith Joki
Murphy Dahlstrom
Gus Seabrook
KoekKoek - SoftServe
Really need to stop this man to man crap. I watched the d really closely last night. Guys still don’t know who to pick up. When opposing D men come down in the zone it’s complete chaos. I watched seabs stand still and let a d men walk right by him to the net. He didn’t know if he should take the puck carrier or check the winger parked infront of the net.
You can’t play man in today’s NHL. Not when offense now involves all 5 players carrying the puck and moving without it. It doesn’t work and you can see Hawks players thinking on the ice instead of reading and reacting. Recipe to get beat and give up a lot of prime scoring opportunities. |

Agreed. Was at the game last night and 7 really has to be limited. Why he's still on the PP is beyond me. He just stands at the top of the line right side and doesn't move regardless and if the puck finds him he just chips it back in. 3rd pairing with Gus on 12 mins/game max going forward. |

Maybe, but JC didn't seem to want to give Joki those minutes right now. I'm not sure anything has changed. It is entirely possible Joki will finish the season in Rockford.
While he isn't too impressive so far, it was interesting that Koekkoek was giving a regular PK shift and he was out there to start the PK a couple times. |

What part of Canada are you in? I really want to see Vancouver, I hear it's a really nice place. |

Hawks have 7 games left before the trade deadline, the last 2 against Colorado and Dallas. I am loving this run, but being a realist, when does Stan start to look to next year and beyond and maybe sell off a major piece for a future asset? |

Unless they are in the process of losing all seven of those games, my guess is that Stan will NOT be a seller of any piece that would help the Hawks make the post-season this season.
To me, that includes the likes of Kruger and Anisimov.
And he shouldn't - plenty of time before the draft and July 1.
What he SHOULDN'T be is a buyer that costs him any asset that could be useful for the future - certainly including any prospect.
So - I'm expecting not much (if anything) from West Madison street this month. |

Hope Stan is not a buyer at the TDL. Just let the chips fall where they may this year. As for major pieces, I think if Stan gets a decent offer for Kruger, Anisimov, or Forsling/depth defenseman, he'll make a trade. More likely see a few moves this summer. |

I don't think they are going to be considering next year with this year still in play. Realistically, if they win 5 of their next seven games, they are probably sitting in a playoff spot. I am not going to dispute how good they will match up with anybody in a seven game series, but these dudes are professional athletes, and certainly have pride. You have to imagine their overall team confidence is growing, and they are starting to believe that this could be something exciting. I still HOPE that if Bowman is able to unload Anisimov or any other contracts for future assets and cap relief, he will do so. |

Yeah, this winning streak is fun while it lasts, but realistically, I think they are looking at next year right now and evaluating exactly what they have, hence the revolving door with defensive and 4th line scratches.
IMO Keoukeouk > Forsling and anybody > Perlini. Perlini has size and speed but the hockey IQ of an eggplant.
