so...Nashville got 2 bottom 6 forwards from the two worst teams in the Metro and they are now a better team?
Sound fishy |

We all like to rip on him. He did his job. Came to play nightly. Didn’t take a shift off and maybe set an example for the younger players. There is value in that. Maybe not to the level we would like, but playing hard on every shift and maybe being a vet in the locker room sets the right example. - airjan23
I get that. I'm old school and I love the "tough guy" role but still surprised anybody wanted him. More of a punching bag then deterrent these days |

They do have to skate, that's for sure. I know this is a way too simplistic view of today's game, but in the past 30 years we have gone from offensive-defensive-offensive-defensive-trending offensive now. As we learned in the 90s, guys like McD will always get theirs, but you can just suffocate alot of other options with size. We've seen guys like Krieder, Nash, etc use their size and just be unstoppable on the puck. Since we brought him up today on the other thread, I just wonder when a team will try to recreate their own version of the Lindros legion of doom line. As long as those three forwards can play, it would be pretty hard to defend against. - 2sticks1puck
Yeah, but guys like Kreider and Nash can/could skate too. I'm not saying size is a bad thing, but if you're immobile because of your size then it kinda is. |

A lot of these types of guys are “in the room” guys, stuff that no fan would ever see. Intangibles. I’m a big intangible guy. Most people are fancy stat people, and or pts lovers etc. I loved Brandon Prust in his day, I couldnt careless what his pts were, but he was a glue guy. A great teammate. No matter what you say about a certain “goon”, “plug”, etc those kind of guys are beloved by teammates. IE - Tanner Glass. And most likely there will always be a spot on teams for that role, it is a necessity. The guy doesn’t even need to play, he just needs be around the team. McLeod sucked in skills obviously, but he also obviously has value across the leauge because he always has a job |

We both agree you can't be skates in quicksand. I think where we disagree is how well they have to skate. I think they just have to be decent at it. Nash wasn't the strongest skater, he just wasn't awful at it. Kreider is sort of a unicorn being that fast with that size. |

1. Brandon Prust and Tanner actually defended their teammates.
2. Brandon Prust was 100 time the hockery player Cody Mcleod is. |

I would of just gave McLoed away for free honestly, so I'm glad NYR got something in return.
Also addition by subtraction, frees up a roster spot for one of the kids. Maybe we see Meskanen soon? |

I would presume one of Meskanen, Andersson, Holland, Lettieir or Fogarty, depending on role and usage. |
