Having someone to drop the gloves and step up down the stretch would be great but at this point the trade deadline has to be about the playoffs and there is no fighting come playoff time. We do need some weight up front though that can skate and grind it out in a 7 game series when everyone plays big and the refs let the players play. - DEDDIE
Need someone that can actually contribute in a positive way and also step up to a Buff, Reaves, or Wilson and not get absolutely ragdolled.
Not many of those guys out there. Maybe there is some young guy in the miners that can step up?
IDK.
Need more than just a face puncher. |

Agreed. Not that he needs to replace Rass but if the series takes a physical turn he would come in handy. |

I know he’s not a great D man but Prout would crush anyone but maybe Reaves. And Peluso again not great but can stand up to almost anyone. |

Again. Why? 1G and 2A this season. Slow ass skater. The only thing he’s good for is face punching. Maybe the odd good body check. In the 6 minutes he’ll play a night. Maybe 8 minutes tops.
You can’t be much of a game changer playing 2 1/2 minutes a period. This obsession with McQuaid, I don’t understand it. Will he be cheap? Yes. Will he take a roster spot? Yes.
I’d much rather spend more and get a player that will make an actual impact other than the odd good body check and maybe a fight. But there’s really no fighting in the playoffs anyways! So he’s going to wear down the opposing teams players playing 2 1/2 minutes a period?!
Seems like a waste to me IMO.

Hayes, sure.
McQuaid?! 33 years old, 1G 3A this year. He’s a middle class Dalton Prout. No thank you. - Flamin_Irishmin
Except McQuaid has had some great fights this year. Prout hasn't fought in the NHL since 2017.
Why do you give a poop what he produces offensively? Any of our 5-7 can step in and do that. He's insulation for our line up when injuries roll through, he's mean as hell, and he's cheap. His offensive production means almost nothing. |

He's not replacing anyone just playing as a 7th d man. A guy like him would be huge and he's not even that bad |

I get your point but McQuaid is a better player than that. He's a 15 - 18 min a night player so he's a capable 3rd pairing guy. If you believe in adding some toughness with a player who can take a regular shift, he's a pretty good option. And he will go toe to toe with Lucic, Reaves etc.. |

The guys on the Boston thread were sad to see him go much like many of us were sad to see Engelland go.
If poop goes down to you really want Bennett/Tkachuk to stand up against Reaves/Engelland/Wilson/Buff?
Proust played OK last game but you do not want to give him minutes. As someone mentioned McQuaid is not. Bad option as a 3rd pairing. And he would come cheap.
Gives us options that I do not believe Prout does. |

2019 1st Round Pick
Smith
Frolik
to
Arizona
Crouse
Kuemper
Merkley
Not my favorite pitch here but it would get us some younger size in the bottom 6 and a competent back up for Rittich. - buddy_doug
Why do people insist on figuring out what video game trades will work and then posting them on here?
Why does Arizona want anything to do with Frolik or Smith? Why are they giving up Crouse? He's probably better than whatever they'll get drafting at 30. Why would they give up Merkley? He's the exact type of player they'd draft around 30. Why would the Flames give up Frolik? He's the kind of depth player teams are giving away 2nd round picks to acquire this time of year.
Your proposal makes zero sense for either team.
Here's a little help for anyone trying to come up with a trade. Frolik is never going to be the player going back the other way.
If everything falls apart and the Flames are sellers next year, Frolik will definitely be on the move. This year, there's a 0.000046% chance he's traded. |

McQuaid is a much better defenseman than Dalton Prout. Anyone saying otherwise doesn't have a (frank)ing clue what they're talking about. Bothering to bring up point totals pretty much proves that.
McQuaid has never put up numbers but he's tough as poop and he's a solid bottom pairing option. Can't stay healthy though. |

Yeah dude. He's a fan favourite in New York this year too. Rangers fans are brutal if they see a guy who is bad at defending.
Honestly, Ive only watched one rangers game this year and it was tonight. He looked fine but Im willing to take the word of rangers fans on reddit that he's been adequate all season. I've seen all of his fights this year and he had fight of the year against Reaves. |

Jesus the prodigal son returns! Dude, you are so high and mighty and obviously have the pulse of what makes this team tick. Its a f'n rumor site created just for that and so that fans of the game can play armchair GM for 5 minutes. You don't know more than he or I or anyone else not named Brad Treliving... get over yourself, honest to god! |

Yeah, I've watched a lot of Rangers games this season. McQuaid is a solid defenseman. He's not a top pairing guy but he's a guy that can give you 15-17 minutes of solid defense and has some wiener to him. |

THIS.
Exactly what he is. Not much of a liability, but will not put up points and is often hurt. For a 5th round pick hes worht the pick up for some team |
