Add up Erod, Sheary, Mitts and Thompson

They equal the salary of one Kyle Okposo.

So there is no "regardless of salary"

- jcragcrumple

This is true. It's also why I don't get too upset at goaltending. The team has only $3.5 million combined in salary between the two of Ullmark and Hutton right now.

Yes, there is

We are talking about what role to play these guys in
That’s dictated by PRODUCTION,
not their salary

This isn’t difficult

Also... GO BACK AND READ
I never said Okposo > ANY of them
Just pointed out they’ve been disappointing TOO

Again, a pretty simple & obvious point

They're also easier to move away from if need be. Salary does and should play a part in every conversation, at least if you are thinking in terms of winning a championship one day.

If we were getting $6m of production out of Okposo, we would almost certainly be getting more production from 2 of the other guys who would be on his line, and benefiting from his $6m skill.

He's just as streaky as anyone else on this team save for a select few. He's playing very well right now, but it's not the norm. He will fall back to earth.
- buffalofan19

I don’t think anyone expects him to keep up this scoring pace,
but considering our options...
he’s easily the best 3C we’ve had this year

Random comment : Ya know what I hate ? When there's a blown no-call, and then a few dudes in the crowd do that whistle thing where it means the ref didn't call a penalty. I hate that...it's so annoying and stupid. I remember hearing that in the old Aud in the 70s and it's still happening here in 2019. If you're one of those guys, I hate you. Stop doing that. Eff you.

I guess it's a difference of opinion what "disappointment" means. Can you be disappointed that 650K Erod doesn't have 50 points? Or 925K 20 year old Mittelstadt doesn't have 60 points? I guess. He has a lot to work on, but he has rounded out two way game extremely well. It's clear he's not ready to carry a line yet, but he provides a lot of opportunity for his linemates. Keep him with Reinhart, who has -57 points without Eichel this season, and watch him start to have success. Kid needs to shoot more.

Disappointment should be most heavily afforded to the guy that has 4 years at 6 per remaining, brought here to specifically be an immediate and ongoing scoring threat.

But that’s NOT what we were talking about

Just about lineup construction for NOW

And AGAIN,
I never argued for Okposo OVER those other guys
Just that they have all been disappointing as well

I'm not disappointed in the guys making $850k, I'm disappointed that the guy making $6m doesn't make them better. He makes them worse. And he prevents us from getting guys to help them.

It's impossible to evaluate a player without the context of salary.

If Okposo made $850k, we'd have $5m to go get an actual 2RW. He's a major contributor to Sheary and Mittelstadt not having more points, because we can't afford an actual 2RW. That's disappointing.

Ok, that’s all fine
I’m not saying there aren’t excuses/reasons behind the lack of production of others
And I’m not making excuses for Okposo-
even though it seems like u guys think that’s what I’m doing

The bottom line is that they all have roughly the same amount of goals and points

They’ve ALL hurt us- That’s all I’m saying
It’s not JUST Okposo

Sure... but none of this had to do with roster construction going forward

Homie made a point to put Okposo on the 4th line right NOW
*which i don’t disagree with btw

You’re having an entirely different convo
*in which, i do agree with your point
Obviously i want Okposo & his Cap Hit gone

But that has nothing to do with who we put on line4 Saturday afternoon
And THAT is what the discussion was about

I’d still only do it if 1 of those picks was Top2

The AVs could get 2 really high picks this year with a little luck
Top10 is looking pretty nice for forwards

Idc care about the salaries- I’m more interested in the PRODUCTION

And i wasn’t advocating for Okposo
Just making a point that he’s not the only disappointment on the roster right now

A LOT of guys have let us down this year

- jdfitz77

Which one of them got top unit PP time for 30+ games this season?

Okposo is a boulder that can't even be moved off site. You can push him around the site, but you can never get rid of him. It's so unlikely that he'd be willing to waive his NTC to go to a team that needs a salary dump. He's BO proof. We're just (frank)ing stuck.

The value isn't there unless you know exactly who those two 1st rounders will turn into.

Tage has 6 5 on 5 goals in 507 min playing primarily with Sobotka this year.

Okposo has 5 in over 600 minutes

One of them gets top unit PP time and a bunch of gimme points. It’s not Thompson

Correct me if i'm wrong, but your claim is that they're all disappointing. My point is that if $6m Okposo was a 55 point RW, Mittelstadt would be at least a 40 point center. The salary tied up in Okmoulsonville (against the cap) is $15.4m, which would (in theory) buy 2 good wingers.

The wingers we have do not make us better, and actively hinder us, dragging down the players you mentioned.

Salary cannot be removed from the discussion, because it touches every part of the roster construction. They don't disappoint equally, because some have an out-sized influence on what can be done.

$15.4 million dollars for 42 points - Okmoulsonville

$6m for 73 points - Sheary, Mitts, Erod, Thompson
