So many tap ins and cross goal-mouth feeds too. Blaming Ullmark for that is burtal
- jcragcrumple

Exactly.

Their D zone coverage has been atrocious all year and this guy is going to call out just the goaltending?

(I AGREE with Sam 😂, however you can't do that)

Phils POST GAME:

Q: Do you feel like this is the Defensive Group that's going to be able to take this team where it wants to go?

HOUSLEY: That's Jason's call. But we're going to look at it.

Did anyone else hear Reinhart say "we need more from our goalies and we need it from the start of the game?"
- jcragcrumple

I wanted to hear this again before writing it. Sabres’ Sam Reinhart: “We can’t expect to win hockey games 6-5, 7-6. We need more from our goalies and we need it from the start of hockey games. It’s frustrating.”

- Stripes77

I thought I heard that too but I dismissed it thinking there was no way that was right.

Sam finally gets rolling. I missed most of the game.
Was it ullmark's fault?

He was brutal IMO but people want to keep blaming the D. Both have been trash this year.

On the one hand, I appreciate that they're holding each other accountable, on the other, I feel like Samson kind of picked the wrong night to call a goalie out

Those three guys are the furthest issues on the team. I’m just frustrated when Eichel gets torched after one bad night, but like I said, Skinner gets one goal in 7 games and I don’t hear anything. If that was Eichel could you imagine what this board would be like ? If Reinhart has a bad game in the next week I’m better off not saying anything cause you’ll have his hockeybuzz entourage ready to pounce. Reinhart could not get a point in 6 straight and you’ll have 5 posters talking about his PPG and that his draft class was weak so he has a good excuse. It’s like people are rooting for Eichel to fail.
- Pegullaville

That's probably because even elite goal scorers go that long routinely without scoring a goal.

Well, maybe that will light a fire under the goalies. I don't agree with his assessment as it pertains to tonight, but the honesty is refreshing. Definitely not a diplomatic response on his part

Is he the Gorges bad cop to Eichel's Gio good cop?

Ovechkin has a 1 goal in 10 game stretch so far this year, Kane has a 1 goal in 14 game stretch so far this year, Tavares 1 in 9, Jesus 1 in 7, Point 1 in 9, Pastrnak has 2 1 in 6, Draisaitl has a 1 in 8, Gaudreau has a 1 in 12, Landeskog has 3 1 in 6 game stretches without a goal, and that rounds out the top 10 goal scorers in the league minus Skinner.

Eichel had 5 goals in his first 25 and had a ppg of 1.18 still and this board was a constant Eichel bash fest. Assists don’t matter. Reminds me of Sundin in Toronto. It’s like the guy can never do enough and the second he fails there is a boatload of people chomping at the bit to let everyone know about it.

I've never heard a Sam story to make me think he's any kind of leader.

If that was Eichel this board would meltdown. “Not a leader” “did he play tonight”.

True. He wore an A at the WJC, but that was probably a skill and seniority thing, as those things tend to be at that level.

There’s only a few posters who do that and they’re overwhelmed by those who view it differently. It’s not that big a deal.

That doesn't make it right. Goal scorers go cold, even the best ones. It's not worth a mention for 7 games, when it gets to 13 like it did for Matthews then maybe you've got something. Focus on the things that are actual problems, like the severe lack of depth, the fact that only 1 or 2 defensemen play well on any given night are all bigger reasons for losing than ERod being in the top 6 or Skinner going a few games without scoring.

I agree 100%. I just brought up Skinner as a comparison tool to Eichel. I’ve used Reinahrt before and that turned the blog into an absolute poop show. There is no problem with Skinner. It wouldn’t hurt for him to chip in a couple assists once in a while but he scores at an elite pace that he gets a pass for that. The moral of my overall post is that the second Eichel falters he gets absolutely crushed by the fan base, even outside of hockeybuzz.

He had it bad. I believe he was the second Euro captain of a Canadian team after Teppo? Could be way off on that. But I remember he was the first euro captain of the leafs which was a big deal. And he followed Wendel.

I may or may not have a Sundin jersey from when I was 10.

Don't judge

Sundin was an excellent player. Nothing wrong with it. I had a Dan Marino jersey from the age of 13 that I literally wore every day. Something about that number...
