for

Eichel.

I love Eichel, but that is one hell of a trade.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but your claim is that they're all disappointing. My point is that if $6m Okposo was a 55 point RW, Mittelstadt would be at least a 40 point center. The salary tied up in Okmoulsonville (against the cap) is $15.4m, which would (in theory) buy 2 good wingers.

The wingers we have do not make us better, and actively hinder us, dragging down the players you mentioned.

Salary cannot be removed from the discussion, because it touches every part of the roster construction. They don't disappoint equally, because some have an out-sized influence on what can be done.

$15.4 million dollars for 42 points - Okmoulsonville

$6m for 73 points - Sheary, Mitts, Erod, Thompson

- jcragcrumple

All true
But... in the context of the original point Homie made...
you completely missed what i was saying and changed the convo

For the last freaking time...
i was only pointing out that Okposo isn’t the ONLY ONE who hasn’t been producing
That’s it

I never said Okposo shouldn’t be put on Line4 (not today)

The salary vs production argument is a different point
And one which i completely agree with you on

And yeah, there’s different levels of “disappointment” for these guys based on other factors

I wasn’t ranking who was & wasn’t more disappointing than other
Just making the obvious statement that NONE of those guys have lived up to expectations either

I'm not disappointed in the guys making $850k, I'm disappointed that the guy making $6m doesn't make them better. He makes them worse. And he prevents us from getting guys to help them.

It's impossible to evaluate a player without the context of salary.

If Okposo made $850k, we'd have $5m to go get an actual 2RW. He's a major contributor to Sheary and Mittelstadt not having more points, because we can't afford an actual 2RW. That's disappointing.

- jcragcrumple

I blame the GM for the crap signing. I never liked Okposo even when he played on the Island. GMTM screwed us with that contract.

Tage has 6 5 on 5 goals in 507 min playing primarily with Sobotka this year.

Okposo has 5 in over 600 minutes

One of them gets top unit PP time and a bunch of gimme points. It’s not Thompson

- sbroads24

So i guess we should’ve never traded for Sobotka then... right?
And certainly shouldn’t have been playing him at 3C

Hmmmm...
i wonder if ANYONE said that at all?

U might as well just go back to bashing Sam
Since I’m sure u won’t admit u were wrong about the “speedy” Sobotka & Berglund

I'll say it again, the Sabres need a head coach that will install discipline and a system.

Housely is here to start the year next year.

If next year start out meh, or bad, i could see it then.

I’m saying it’s not surprising in the least that he isn’t getting assists.

If he ended the year with 12 goals playing 10-13 minutes a night that’s actually pretty good for a 3rd liner with no PP time.

It boggles my mind how anyone can compare the kids to Kyle freaking Okposo who’s given every opportunity under the sun over and over again while another player makes one mistake and is sat.

Housley actually sat Pommer over Okposo

It’s incredible

The Sabres love bringing the past back why not bring back ruff at least we know he will show emotion during the game 😑

The coaches are holding this team back

I still see us making the playoffs but the coaches still need to be fixed in the off-season

- gerbe75pts

This team is not making the playoffs. Our record the last 20 games is like 7-13

Might depend on if Coach Q would come here

If not,
We could start with Housley again and presumably bring back Lindy whenever

I wonder if Botts/Lindy have much of a relationship at all?

Okposo needs to walk away, I doubt he does though. He is getting 6MM for nothing for the next 4 years.

This is why the NHL needs to get rid of 100% guaranteed contracts.

Sam finally gets rolling. I missed most of the game.
Was it ullmark's fault?

- Boss34

Ullmark was left out to dry on 3 of those goals.. guys wide open. Can't fault him on the game winner either.

Okposo is a boulder that can't even be moved off site. You can push him around the site, but you can never get rid of him. It's so unlikely that he'd be willing to waive his NTC to go to a team that needs a salary dump. He's BO proof. We're just (frank)ing stuck.
- TheSabresTaco

One more year next year, then we will probably have to bury him. It is what it is.

Eh. Ullmark was flopping a lot. Slow on his pushes. As a goalie, I was thinking I saw a pretty lousy game, positionally, from him.

The D sucked too. No argument, but Ullmark wasn't fine IMO.

Yeah. If our defense performed like a playoff defense, that game is 5-2. All the goals were scored in tight lacking coverage.

I just could not really blame him on 3-4 of the goals that were scored. the 5th one he should have gotten over to the post, the breakaway in OT, Meh... 50-50 shot of saving that one I guess.
