fun with numbers:
#Canucks are 24-24-7 through 55 games (55 points)
*would have to go 17-9-1 to get to 90
*would have to go 15-12 to get to 85

12-12-3 is my guess.

I believe he could and I believe there will be discussions with Tyler Madden, his family and advisor about it. But I’m the end I think he’ll go back to Northeastern for one more.

He should, at least IMO, another year of development would serve him well.

How is it risky?
- canucksfan1944

Potentially you give up a lot to get said player gambling your teams future. If you don’t get said player it’s still a big deal and I believe other GM’s take note which also hurts with future negotiations.

Adjusted for era, they're actually very similar, production wise.

Sharks are playing really well, could be this years Capitals in that no one is really paying attention to them or predicting them as Cup contenders.

Except Neely was playing beind captain Stan Smyl and Tony Tanti, I saw an interview where he said he just couldn't get any ice behind those guys. Tani scored 45 goals as a 20 year old. Neely was excited to get an opportunity in Boston.

Jake can get ice if he'd earn it, there's no one but Boeser in front of him.

If he continues his pace through the rest of the season, I would like to see him in the AHL next season. For some to get better, they need to play with better competition and with better line mates. His pace is really only matched by a 24 year old on the team and a 21 year old defensemen.

I also don't see him as a future centre.

I didn't say NHL, I said AHL.

He's skinny, he could easily put on 10-15 lbs this summer.

True...I still think it's a big jump for him, but hey, he looks talented and skilled. So do a lot of kids until they come up against men in pro leagues though.

Ed Jovanoski on Sportsnet 650 on Gudbranson : "He just has to get back to basics. He is a guy who has had a little bit of struggles late but I think he is going to continue to grow when he gets his confidence back. Video and amnesia are key for Erik." #SN650

exactly

Gudbranson just isn't built for today's game, imagine if some random AHL dude played exactly like him, most fans would be saying that he should be scratched/waived, but Gudbranson's pedigree, personality and rep buys him this longer rope with some fans.

I get that this team team is soft as butter, but that doesn't mean that a guy who's physical and fights once in awhile should be given a pass for being an overpaid scrub. Just sign a 4th line winger plug who will fight and hit, at least you can hide that dude from getting exposed.

If calling a bad player bad makes me a "hater" then I'm a proud hater

Luke Schenn credited Dallas Eakins with "turning around his game" with the San Diego Gulls.

What I find a bit odd is that a defensemen that has played his entire career in the NHL has now turned it around and is preforming better at 29. Of course he is, he's playing against a lower level of competition. A player that has struggled in the NHL who has never been sent to the AHL until now.

Gudbranson is not much different. He has struggled in the NHL for a long time but has only played 2 AHL games.

Both drafted high and expected to just step into the NHL and perform. Maybe if these players had AHL seasoning and were developed differently, they would be different players now.

#Canucks Elias Pettersson now with 25 goals on the year. Only 4 other players have scored more goals in their rookie season for @Canucks

Pavel Bure (34) 1991-92
Trevor Linden (30) 1988-89
Brock Boeser ((29) 2017-18
Dennis Ververgaert (26) 1973-74
