Radio call mentioned he lost his stick 5 to 6 times?
- Just5

At the very end of the game his stick broke and he looked at it and flipped the broken tiny piece in his hands away - like "meh"... It was hysterical... Endeared me to him immediately.

I don't know what it is but Stolarz makes me nervous. Just something about the way he plays. I think he struggles with pucks up high, which is where everyone is going to shoot because he covers the bottom of the net so well. I feel like there were 4-5 chances for LA that beat Stolarz but just didn't go in. This could be just because I've been watching Hart lately and he just seems like another plain of existence.

I think this is more what's going on than anything.

Most win streaks end this way, last couple games the team doesn’t play really well but wins and then a tie.

For the first time in a long time goaltending is covering the weaknesses.

Thoughts
Ghost is just slow in a straight line. I hope it is an injury but he looks bad. AMAC FALLS a lot and makes soft plays. He is doing fine as a 3rd pair D but with Ghost struggled that pair is scary. AMAC needs to be. 6-7 D

Simmonds confidence is shot, when he touches the puck he panics. Then he either loses the puck or has to reset, either way the play is over. I brought up if Patrick’s line had a scorer on it, they would probably would have more goals. Watching last night there were mutiple times that would have been true. Love Simmer, I give him a break from last season injuries but his unique skill set required a line that can carry him in other areas.

Hope they finish the season with solid play, makes the right moves and actually contend next season

It baffles me how there is a Flyers article everyday that gets hundreds of comments and its never mentioned that the Flyers are embarrassing when they go to a shootout.
Any player not named Giroux, should never do the following things
1. Skate in 2 miles an hour
2. Skate to the far left or right
3. Deke to the backhand.

All of the above lower your chance of scoring, and any combination of the 2 lowers it even more. And if a player does all 3 (which happens a lot) the chance of scoring is 0.001%. And FYI, when Giroux does this he hardly ever scores too.

How is this not tracked? How is this not ripped by every beat reporter?

Both JVR and Konecny lost the puck and never got a shot off...in a shoot out!

Ask any goalie, Carey Price or a beer league goalie what they want to face on a breakaway. Skate in slow from a poor angle and deke to the shooters weak side will be the answer every time

Ghost is in a horrible stretch right now. Maybe that "bruise" is still bothering him. Maybe he's thinking about the trade deadline.

.

- cdearth23

This bad stretch also seems to coincide with his best friend being traded to Buffalo. Im wondering if that is impacting his play...and making him worry about being moved himself. He is definitely out of sorts.

They were outplayed but still had plenty of chances to bury a few. Especially the dyke.

I'll take the point. 2nd longest win streak in the NHL this season is nothing to sneeze at. Time to get 2 against the Ducks.

Gotta keep pushing towards the playoffs, a poor Ducks team hopefully helps, but management has to keep an eye on the future as well. Trading Simmonds, if the return is there, is a must.

Not sure if it was intentional but a few times Kings skaters got very close to him and knocked the stick away. Didn't watch entire game but did see him lose stick on 3 separate occasions. Twice, King knocked it out (either accidental or intentional??) and the last time is when he swung it at the player coming around the net to knock the puck away.

Ghost is struggling but I wouldn’t pin the 2nd goal on him so much. 1st one definitely but the 2nd one Vorobyev needed to read the situation better. Ghost pinched. It’s not always going to work out. He needed to recognize that he had to turn into the dman there. He didn’t recognize he needed to retreat

I put that goal on Raffl more than Ghost but Ghost has struggled a bit this year.

8 wins in a row and points in 9 straight....yet we stand 8 points...still out of the playoffs. Logically they are probably toast, but I'm on board with trying to win as many games as possible....If it cost you a few balls in the lottery...who cares? the development of the young guys on this team is much more important to the future of this team.

Because let's be honest...The shootouts are stupid...the percentage chance of scoring is really based more on luck than skill...if the goalie guesses right or pressures right when the shooter makes his move is is probably going to make the shooter miss...goalies can take more chances in the shootout...the ice sucks and the puck jumps a lot...to me it a waste..if it goes to a shoutout you should add a moral victory point but each team should only get 1.

EK claims negotiations with Provy are going to be tough (I know it's EK but still) and that Provy could dig his heels in (or his agent whatever)

Bill, since you are a much more trustworthy source, do you have any info regarding contract talks with Provy?

Tyson Barrie, anyone? RD, big minutes guy in Col. 27yo. Not sure of the scouting report on him. Only saw him a handful of times. TSN is reporting that he may be on the block. $5.5 through next season then UFA.

Yup, just keep trying to win and get better, but like I said, it's managements duty to keep their eye on the future too.

Not going to complain about shoot outs. Some guys are good and some just aren't. Look at Frans Neilsen. Guy is lights out in a shoot out. Other then Giroux, Flyers don't have guys that you would say can dangle a goalie one on one.

No.

You already have that player in Gostisbehere. The only defender I could see the Flyers acquiring and paying for would be a guy that can play in your top 3.

Example for me would be a deal for Trouba.

Not Bill but i'll try.

I think Provorov is going to come somehwere between the Hamilton deal and Ekblad.

Feel like its going to be 6 years at 6.75-7.25. Somewhere around there. And I'll be fine with it.

I just don't want the winning to cloud what their goal should be... to get assets for players that will not be with the team next season and to move vets that might be holding back some younger players from cracking the lineup.
