Would the Flyers be in a hurry to get this deal done? He is a RFA. The good thing about another team sending an offer sheet is that the Flyers' work would be done. They wouldn't have to negotiate any more. If no offer sheet is given, then I'm sure they will offer something resonable and he will accept. - RustyPipes
And the offer sheet will be more prevalent then in the past. Its economics and the grudge thing will be the exception to the rule. If you can afford to price someone out of a contract on their own player, you can afford them, nothing you can do. That is what the compensation is for if they do leave.
I would have done it for Stamkos. Maybe we would be completely different with a hall of fame winger. Minus 3 firsts, No one will ever know.
It's really only effects the teams trying to consolidate talent WORTH prohibitive contracts. |

Then commit to a rebuild. You can be buyers or sells but don’t stay in the middle. Have a direction and commit to it. Simmonds this, Simmonds that but keep Giroux because he should be a lifetime Flyer.
This isn’t a seven layer dip, where you go in all kinds of different directions. Technically, we don’t even have a coach and Giroux doesn’t get to decide when his career is over. Life does. So you can either win with him, during his best years or you can give up mid season every year as he slowly declines.
At some point, if I’m Giroux, I’m telling management to make the moves that put the on ice product over the top or move me. - SuperSchennBros
Well said. None of our big contracts will be here when we really compete. Their value is in the return they can bring with shrewd front offices.
It's pragmatic and why can't you win with low salary draftees mixed with cheap vets?
It's how you stay flexible and not become US. |

You know what really grinds my gears?
Flyers are on a 9 game point streak and are now 8 points out.
The Anaheim Ducks have lost 20 of their last 23 and are only 4 points out........ - xShoot4WarAmpsx
Wow really? I knew they were playing that badly but crazy they’re only 4 points out.

The Dale Weise cancer is metastasizing on the phantoms. They give up 4 goals in the third and lose 5-2. Myers and Bailey scored for the phantoms. |

Anaheim has been worse than awful. The Flyers wont lose to them unless they miraculously get their poop together. Like I posted earlier. 3 wins in their last 23 games. They are spiraling worse than we ever did. |

On that second goal against the Flyers in the Kings game, Gostisbehere seemed to have a limp in his skate. He may still be bothered by that bruise injury. |

Maybe. Just think Myers on a third pairing with amac makes the most sense |
