Based on teams cap space for next year, the players to go after imo would be Marner, Kapanen, Laine, Trouba and Karlsson. I don't think it's realistic to trade with Toronto for Marner or Kapanen and Botts dpoesn't strike me as the kind of guy that wpould do offer sheets. A trade with Winnipeg or Vegas for Karlsson is possible, who knows.

Cbus was so dumb for not trading him & Bob BEFORE the season
Now they’re gonna get less of a return for Panarin bc he basically said he won’t sign with whoever trades for him
And less for Bob bc he’s had a down season

I like their GM,
but he royally screwed this situation up

I like Aho too but it was tough to get him in the top 5. He's a strong #6. I don't know how you don't like Karlsson. He's cored 60 goals in the last season and a half. I'd take him.

Aho's stats are tremendous, no question. Carolina has tons of cap space so I would think they'll sign him to a long term deal. And if you offer sheeted him the Canes would match.

At what kind of cap hit? I don't think he's anything special.

If the Sabres can hit on a pick like that in the 2nd round or further down, they'll be in fantastic shape going forward.

Yep - Columbus is screwed. Just low-ball them at the deadline. Offer up a 3rd or some crap for Panarin. Maybe every team does that and they take the "best" offer (kinda how we got screwed for letting ROR go. Botts took the 1 legitimate offer ... yada yada yada). Who knows, we could end up with Panarin for a 3rd for the rest of the season. I'd do that.

My thoughts too looking at the lists. However I would put Laine, Connor and Trouba first based on the Jets having $25m to sign those three plus five other RFAs and still need 3-4 more bodies to fill the roster.
Next would be Point followed by Marner, Rantanan and Tkachuk.
