The Bolts will need to walk away from several aging vets with good size contracts to make Point's contract work. They do have 3 guys they could do so with and fit Point in and they have suitable replacemrnts that are NHL ready. Furthermore, I could see Point giving a hometown discount in order to continue to play on arguably one of the best teams over the next 3 years.

STILL, OSing him with an "overpayment" might just work to squeeze them hard where they have to make an undesired move to let him go and take the 1st to re-tool on the fly.
He would be an unbelieveably very good/great get for this team.

They are a top 6 forward (center) and a top 4 dman away from being a serious playoff team. People need to stop overreacting.
