I love that Hextall fixed the farm system and cleaned up the cap. they have a full roster, 2 buried contracts, 4 guys on IR and one minimal contract retention (150K) and still have around 9-10 million in cap space.

that said, I love that Fletcher moved on from Hakstol and I love that he has accelerated the use of young players.

the next moves/steps he make are going to be so important.

Hakstol developed those players. There is a lag just like the Trump economy can thank Obama.

the moves he has made so far are just moving out the players that are not in his plans. I like that they moved Folin and will be taking a look at Myers now. But yeah, the off season is what has me nervous.

My view is that I'm never happy when a coach is fired because that means the team has struggled. I like Gordon but I don't think he's a better coach than Hakstol. As far as the young players. That was all going to happen in due time. I'm going to keep an open mind in regards to Fletcher but it has me nervous also.

What about Fletcher and how he has worked has you worried so far.

I know we disagree but for whatever reason the product on the ice is better than it was before the change.

I would rather have Gordon and Fletcher then the stale version Hak and Hexy had become.

I'm not as focused on the entertainment factor as much as I am the future. We've had this conversation before. What is the goal? Just having a better product on the ice? That's not that hard. Every new player here was brought in by Hextall. Hakstol developed many of these players. It was always a question of time. The Flyers were forced to bring up Hart. I'll repeat the statements of Dave Scott. We want to be a team of action. We want to be a cap team. The mandate that Fletcher has been given is what is scary. I'll end that my opinion that this team was better off with Hextall over Fletcher has not changed.

The team was a train wreck under Hak and Hex. Something had to give. I’m not sold on either of their replacements, but time will tell. It does appear Fletcher wants to move this along at a quicker pace the Hextall but nothing to drastic. I would also suggest that the new coach is leaning more on the youth then Hak was comfortable doing. Today’s move is just un doing some Hextall moves that clearly weren’t viewed as players that were part of their future.

He’s not. Just brought up as the next best option after Folin moved.

Tbh these moves don't move the needle. We can judge Fletcher on either the simmer extension or trade

No...but it gets rid of 2 players that have not played very good. Good teams get rid of players that don’t play good.

#Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher discusses today’s transactions: “Everything we do is not just for now but also to be better next year.”

Starting to feel optimistic about Fletcher

Hart was dynamite vs VAN the other day. I'd still move Simmonds, no?
Myers was a nice signing.

It's for the better if he's insisting on a lengthy contract.
