Yes because we need to 200 foot the other teams to death.
No issue with a player that brings offense at the expense of a defense if it's within reason. - opeth_pa
Well yeah...the best teams do 200 ft you to death.
But to each their own. |

“We’ll try to work on a conclusion that works best for everybody”.
I don’t think I need to explain it. What would you take away from it. He literally said he’s trying to work to an ending with Simmonds. Not to mention the entire article he talked about Wayne in the past tense. - Just5
It's a bit of an awkward way to say that tho.
I'm kinda leaning toward him meaning to say solution there. |

All speculation from my viewpoint. Could be posturing in negotiations, or maybe he does get traded. I don’t think Felcher is dumb enough to tip his hand to other GM’s what his plans are. If so, it seems pretty stupid. Also, a number of people that want to ship out Voracek, never mention what hockey trade would be acceptable. Every team needs a certain amount of players with different skill sets. To me, it’s more about the overall make up and chemistry of the team.

Another issue is who do you replace his presence and leadership qualities with. I agree, I don’t want a 6 yr deal either, and it’s a business, but hoping whatever works out for both sides. I know if I was a small guy being pushed around, it’s nice to know Wayne will have my back, and other teams know this. Who will assume that role if he’s gone? As it is, the Flyers get pushed around too much by bigger teams. Look how the Caps won last year. It would seem you need a well rounded team to win, especially in the playoffs. Without a replacement of what he brings to the team, im not sure I’m ready to deal him away for a first round pick and a prospect, unless you believe you have that in house, or is coming back in a deal. Prime example, Nashville adding a guy like Boyle. Just my 2 cents.... |

You reading what you want to read rather than what it says. You're also wrong about the entire article being in the past tense.

Those qualities alone are not enough of a reason to re-sign him or to avoid trading him.

Edmonton is a mess. McDavid totally going to waste there.
Rattie also goes down with an injury. RW market could be heating up for sure between him and Melker going down in this game. |

This is Bologna. It’s crystal what is likely to happen. Is there a small chance he resigns? I guess if Simmonds comes down |

It would be difficult to find a hockey trade given his contract. With him I’ll take a player who maybe can’t carry the puck quite like him but has a better all around game. A smarter player. Jake is a bimbo on ice

"Wayne has played hard and he's played very well of late. I can't commend him enough on his professionalism, on his attitude. You watch him in celebrations after games and he is pretty much the first guy out there to congratulate - Tfaehner[goalies] Carter [Hart] or Anthony [Stolarz], as the case may be. He's just a great teammate and has done a lot for this franchise. We'll try to work on a conclusion that works best for everybody."
This tells all of you Simmonds will be traded? |

Wow....
You guys do realize that I’m not frustrated by the idea of Simmonds being traded but more so you guys grasping at straws. After offseason surgery and two games in camp and a struggle to the first half the season, you guys seems to take joy in his turnovers.
Nothing about this says he’s automatically being traded. |

I think he's gonna be traded based off what Lebrun said. Gotta say that I don't see much you can take from what Fletcher says there. |

You’re entitled to your opinion, and I’m not saying he should or shouldn’t be moved, but without a replacement, or a viable plan that makes sense, I can’t get excited about moving him. |

Hell we should trade everyone not named Coots then.
In all honesty I do understand what you are saying and why you want to do this. Im just feeling extra illogical today as the Supernatural convention Im at in Seattle was canceled due to a once in 30 year storm and now trying switch flight from Monday to tomorrow because of another storm incoming to Seattle..
worst.

Simmonds is probably going to be traded but Fletcher has done a damn good job of being tight lipped. His comment point in zero direction of when it comes to Simmonds. |

Am I hearing this right? People are saying we should trade Jake INSTEAD of Simmonds? Or unload both if right deals come along?
Jake is head and shoulders more talented than Simmer. I'd take Simmers toughness any day but we need to unload him... |

Agreed. All he has really said is he's not going to hand out deals that don't make sense for the future. That means he could still conceivably sign Simmonds for a couple years at a palatable cap hit. But yeah, my money is likely on a trade at this point. |
