Would any of you trade Jake for McDavid, Gaudreau, Draisaitl, Aho, Barkov, Pastrnak, Barzal, or Hoffman?
If you said yes to any of these, and your reason for wanting Jake gone is he turns the puck over too much... congratulations. Every single one of the guys I listed has been credited with more turnovers than Jake. Gaudreau has almost twice the number of turnovers.
Playmakers turn the puck over. It's a necessary consequence of creativity. These guys are threading needles and taking chances.
We all complain this team has too many puck pushers, and 200-footers... yet some seem eager to chase one of the top playmakers in the league out of town. And replace him with whom exactly? 19-yo Morgan Frost? Draft picks? /shrug - Tomahawk
Turnovers aren't the issue for me. It's the same for defenseman that handle the puck a lot. It's situational. Don't make high risk plays when you have a lead late in the game. It's also his lack of effort many times defensively. He's been a lot better lately and Gordon has maybe pushed a button by using him late in defensive game situations.

Hopefully when Corbin Knight cleares waivers today and gets sent down to the Phantoms, that spot will be used for Morin's conditioning stint. Like Bill suggested the other day, they'll probably send him down on the 12th. |

Turnovers is one metric. Jake skates into nothing. Makes bad defensive reads. Takes plays and stretches of games off. - Tfaehner
McJesus does everything you just listed regularly. He coughed up the puck multiple times in the Flyers game trying to beat multiple guys at the bluelines. But you know what, he's capable of beating multiple guys (as we saw on that beauty goal), so he's got license to take those chances. Even if it only works 1 time out of 10, it's worth the gamble to his team.
Same thing with the stuff that makes Jake look stupid. He'll come out ahead in the end.
To suggest McDavid wouldnt be a huge upgrade over Jake is absolutely obsurd. - Tfaehner
It was a mental exercise, not a trade proposal, lol. |

McDavid is a much better player without the puck. You're just focusing on plays with the puck. McDavid also scores around 100 points and contends for the Hart trophy.

MacDonald has been a solid player for the Flyers in the past 4 years overall. I'd have no issue with him finishing out his contract here in a reduced role next season. - MJL
Agreed he will be ok in a 6-7 role. Expensive for that role but he has the experience to be good while not playing ever game |

All my Flyer dreams are coming true: Weal, Weise, Lehtera are all gone. Myers, Morin and Hart up. AMac is still here though and he was the list topper, please Chucky let him be next! Awffl is on that list too but he can stay if he agrees to a one year contract at the league minimum, otherwise buh bye. I love Simmonds and was a fan of his before we even traded for him but it is definitely time to part ways. Don’t need another Leclair, Briere, Pronger, Lecavalier type contract that we would regret in a year or three.
What to do with Gordo at the end of the season? He is doing a great job, but do you go with the big name. Will be really interesting.
Stone or Bread please Chucky. - darkerens
No way Raffl would agree to league minimum and one year deal.
So he can easy risk UFA status even if this was a down year so far.
But 10 more points and remaining a + player he should be good for another team.
Maybe even a trade at deadline

Carter Hart is moving in with Jake so don't expect a Voracek trade (nor should we make one by the deadline)
I've run out of good things to say about coots. I've defended him from his first days as a flyer and always knew he would turn into the player he is today.
I will say this. I was one of, if not the most vocal hagg hater last season but he's been way better this year. Idk what he did over the summer or what he changed in his game but it's like a night and day difference. He'll never be more than a 4/5 defender but he's really grown into his role and makes the team better instead of worse like he did last year. I'm more than happy to eat my words |

Coots has been incredible. And away from G for much of it (aside from PP). So happy for Hart. Concerned for Ghost. |

The Voracek we've seen the last few weeks is the one I was hoping we'd get all season. |

Not sure if I'm alone in this thinking but I really don't think we are playing that much better in our own zone during this stretch. Ducks had us scrambling much of the game. If not for better goaltending, we'd be looking at this as business as usual.
We have also started to get contributions from our secondary players which has contributed to the wins.
I'm confident that Fletch will stick to his plan and unload some expiring contracts and collect assets for future success. |

Teams that win get good goaltending and secondary scoring. We put more shots on goal and went up 4-0. The ducks made a push while we played more defensively and we still won the shots battle. |

I felt betrayed by the earlier play this year.
Who were those guys? Where did they go?
If this is the 'Hart Effect', Hextall deserved his firing. What was he missing about this kid? It sure didn't look like it required genius to have made this promotion EARLIER.
One thing in Bill's GM report that I found to be ugly, purely NEEDS my comment but first my anecdote.
When I was doing some training in Biloxi, along with 15,000 other guys, my squadron had been requested to assist a church in a repainting. Our 1st looey, the son of a general, addressed us in a formation and said that he needed 10 (?) BODIES to volunteer.
Since I am NOT just a body, I was ticked by this smuck, speaking to us in such a way and simultaneously wanting our FREELY given labors.
It was crappy.
Watch how you speak of your team and it's players, Fletcher. Resentment toward bosses can be automatic and requires little to be switched on.
It doesn't strengthen your position or authority to act like the critical, constituent parts of your organization are just unfeeling components of a machine. You can hold to that but it had better be closely held and NEVER publicly stated.

The defense can certainly be better. I still think as currently constructed the defense is quite undersized and often gets overworked by bigger forwards. Doesn't help that Ghost continues to be in a funk that he just can't seem to get out of. |

Does it not make sense to sell high for a guy like Jake, like now?
While we are doing well, it would give the leverage for a good return rather than being the dumpster fire we were.
And it does not mean I want to start doing poorly, it might be addition by subtraction. |

Hart is 20 years old. Goaltenders ascending the NHL at that age is not common. Fletcher was forced to call up Hart due to the number of injuries or he'd likely still be with the Phantoms.
As far as the rest of your comments. Not really following the relevance.
