Hart is 20 years old. Goaltenders ascending the NHL at that age is not common. Fletcher was forced to call up Hart due to the number of injuries or he'd likely still be with the Phantoms.
As far as the rest of your comments. Not really following the relevance. - MJL
No one forced Fletch to call up Hart. They could've made a trade. It's still a decision Fletch had to make. For all we know(which is nothing) Hextall might have traded for a stop gap and Hart wouldn't be here right now. |

Grasping at straws. Hart was the available player to bring up. For all we know Hextall might have made the same call. I can do the same thing. The relevant point is that if any of the veteran goaltenders were available, Hart likely would still be with the Phantoms.

I think he will play over vorobyov who has been pretty bad - Tfaehner
I think you're right. Raffl, Varone, Bailey on 4th line against Pens.
Question is, does Myers make debut against Pens? He's not here to sit. Myers over Ghost or Amac? |

You cannot do the same thing as an executive, except in your fantasy/video game.
And, Hextall did not get the chance to because he was for all intents and purposes a creep to his peers.
And your retro-logic about what people would have done is just as speculative as the comments you love to dissect. |

Hextall did get a goalie; Calvin Pickard. Wasn’t it under the new GM that he was waived? |

McDavid is a much better player without the puck. You're just focusing on plays with the puck. McDavid also scores around 100 points and contends for the Hart trophy. - MJL
Fairly certain that no one is comparing Voracek and McDavid in a “who’s better” scenario. The point was that all offensively gifted players turn the puck over, and to move Voracek for a similar player makes no sense. People don’t seem to realize that you won’t be able to replicate his production at the same cap hit. Most players producing at the rate that Voracek does are making comparable money or are going to on their next contract. |

FYI conventional wisdom is just recommendations for how things were done successfully on the past.
If you have a gifted child, it makes sense to challenge them progressively.
Not every gifted child will respond the same way.
Which is why admin (for whatever discipline) must use their: knowledge, past experience and intuition to make a calculated decision.
Does anyone think, at this point, Hart would have been better served with a whole year at Lehigh Valley? |

Actually it's not (insert appropriate emoji here)
EDIT: Wait! Most 20 year olds don't get called up! We caaaaaaaant do it! Because Hextall didnt! And if he didn't (without knowing ANYTHING about the particulars) it was the right decision!

You've misread my posts and what I was saying especially the part where I said I'm not bothered by the number of turnovers that Voracek has.

No room for MacDonald next season. - Feanor
There is barely space for Mac now. Why trade Folin and up Myers, full on knowing that Morin is probably going to be activated within the next few days/weeks. Mac is a road block for guys like Morin and Myers, who have the potential to be better and add an element of size that we need. |

No Myers or Bailey versus Pens. I guess I shouldn't disagree because of the streak. |

Morin has proven nothing. He will be given every opportunity I believe to prove himself with or without Amac. Nothing wrong with amac hanging around next year. He’s taken a minor league demotion well before |

Plus we don't know what moves are going to be made between now and then. The hope is that younger player become better and take over to phase out veterans like MacDonald but you still need some veterans. I prefer Gudas over MacDonald.

Which is why I think teams needing d help will make offer for Gudas. Gudas has been our most consistent dman and would absolutely help a playoff team. |

TSN reporting Flyers have called up Justin Bailey. Right now I believe he would be 13th forward but I smell a trade coming.... - cdearth23
I have tickets to the phantoms wilkes barre pens games in Wilkes Barre. Man the phantoms have nobody worth watching on their roster anymore.
Myers called up, Misha up, Hart playing lights out in the NHL.
Rubstov and NaK out for the year. The Bunn man might be the only one. |

Well, he was a creep to many old time flyer alumni guys and cocky. He was not fired because he kept Crapstol. And had a conservative approach with Hart. |

Absolutely is nonsense. Also, I believe Fletcher is following the course Hextall would have so far. I'm pretty sure no one predicted hart coming up and playing this well I was worried he would make bad Trades to fix the team short term. So far he hasn't done that. Thank god he seems to be ignoring Scotts moronic initial comments after firing hexy.
Why are you feeding these trolls? Must be a slow day on the Leafs thread. Haha. |

Or the reverse. He may have called him up. I don't think fletcher could have predicted how well he's played. Great goaltending makes everyone look like a genius. Gm coach etc. |

Actually no one knows the real reason and/or reasons for Hextall’s dismissal. So your opinion, my opinion and anyone else’s who is not a decision-maker within the organization is pure speculation. |

I disagree. It's obvious it was due to the "rebuild" taking too long, not winning and declining ticket sales. |

My friends who follow other teams and the nhl closely stated that it looked like a typical flyers org impatient move looking from the outside.
That's what I didn't like. My suspicion is that it was done for a financial reason as you say and the fact that sth were not happy paying massive amounts for tix when they were avail cheaply on stub hub. That's the business side I guess, but I'm glad fletch hasn't gone crazy with short term moves like I thought was the stated mandate from homer and Scott |
