I don't discount anything.
There is only one metric for a leader, successful or unsuccessful.
5 years in and the team was near the bottom of the league.
As I said the reality is someplace between your panic and my was the right time. Being honest it's all a moot point right now since he is gone and to this point I have no issues with what Fletcher has done. - opeth_pa
There are many factors that are considered to judge by. The season was not over. It's pretty clear to me that Hextall was pretty successful in what he was attempting to do. It's a shame he won't be around to reap the benefits of what he did. |

Nope, I OFFER my seat to any lady waiting. Not always accepted.

I wish that were true. But you seem like a guy who needs approval. You probably wait for the “Thank You” after you hold the door. |

Listen to yourself. Obviously it wasnt just about the poor half a season. It was about Hextall. They wanted him out. Not panic. A good time to get rid of him. - Dkos
This doesn't make any sense. Of course they wanted him out, they fired him. That's not under debate. They panicked. I've always been a big supporter of Holmgren but I think he made a poor decision. Scott I have no time for. If the team was winning earlier in the season, Hextall wouldn't have been fired in my opinion. |

Saying he failed is absurd. A GM failing or succeeding in the situation that Hextall took over is not based on half a season. The team is benefitting and will benefit in the future from what Hextall did. He wasn't perfect and he made some mistakes but that's true of every GM. If the team played better in the first half of the season he would still be the GM today. The rest is BS. - MJL
I think we can see that it was goaltending that cost Hextall. Riding/praying Elliott was ok and thinking Neuvy to not break into a million pieces was his folly.
Freaking Mrazek seems to be doing ok with canes that was a swing and a miss for Hexy.

What is the status of Elliot and Neuvirth.
Are either healthy enough to trade before the deadline? |

I’m ok with it. I not a big fan of Hlomgrem as a GM. I have no idea what he does now. have no problem with Scott. This was fun. I’ve got to go for a run. Have a good day. |

For sure, relying on Neuvirth was a mistake. That was the biggest issue with the team earlier. Not the only issue but the biggest.

He would have been fired eventually anyway. For not firing the College coach after the fifteenth loss. |

I’m still alive, and very happy.
Don’t spend much time in here anymore, it’s not worth it. If they add an “ignore” feature, I’ll be back.

I don't think anyone is saying Hextall didn't do good things but that doesn't exclude him from having failed in other ways. |

No GM is going to have a perfect record or not make any mistakes. The question is did he fail enough to deserve to be fired. In management's opinion he did. I disagree with them.

You are the kinda guy who allows ladies to stand on a train despite you having a seat. - mickel25
They want to be treated equal right? I wouldnt offer my seat to anyone unless they we old, injured or pregnant. You cant demand equality then then expect special treatment |
