Can Sheary play his off wing?
Keep Sam with Casey and see if you can get 53-9-43 rolling?
Put Thompson on the left with Casey and Sam.
What's the worst that could happen? - thatsapickle
I don't know if sheary or olofsson can flip to rw
I know tage and smith can play either side, and o regan can play all 3 spots

i havent given up on tage yet
but 46 games into this season, if he is in fact much much better than Sobotka and Larsson, wouldnt it LOOK like he is much better than Sobotka and Larsson when is "saddled" with them - Der Kaiser
You don’t think he does?
Thompson 7 goals in 575 minutes
Okposo 10 goals in 750 minutes
Sobotka 3 goals in 756 minutes
Girgs 3 goals in 644 minutes
Those are his most common linemates
He scores goals at a better clip than all of them. |

I don’t think Sheary has a spot on an Playoff caliber roster. Isn’t skilled enough offensively to be in a top 6 role, isn’t good defensively or play with enough grit to play in the bottom 6. Girgensons can at least play PK and fill a valuable role on a 4th line.
Okposo (see Sheary discription above) and Sobotka (see Girgensons discription above). At least Okposo doesn’t look completely out of place in a bottom 6 role but he’s making 4M per year too much for his role. I’d love Sobotka 2M cheaper as well as a 4th Line C. - Pegullaville
Yet Sheary played on and contributed to 2? Stanley Cups in Pittsburgh, I get that they moved on from him, but that doesn't diminish the fact that he had playoff success in Pittsburgh and that is what GMJB wanted when he brought him to Buffalo. It didn't cost much to get him here and the hope is, when his contract is up the next guy in line will be ready and have some experience winning from his time spent in Rochester. |

I would think if skinner signed there is room for stone and maybe a middle pair d man
assuming 2 scrubs got moved |

olofsson is more skilled for the second line IMO
smith for the 3rd line
so do you put sheary on the 4th line like the pens did? - homiedclown
Obviously a lot of stuff can happen in between now and next year but let’s say hypothetically with what we have now:
Skinner-Eichel-1RW
Smith-2C-Reinhart
Sheary-Mitts-erod /Thompson
Moldy Cheese-Larry-slowposo |

I would go ridiculously hard after Stone but only because he’s an elite player.
If they are able to land him they need to use the picks to stockpile some cheap talent in the pipeline |

When the Sabres made the run with Miller, Vanek, Roy, Pommer and the rest of that team, it came off the heals of a very successful run in the AHL, Pittsburgh won their cups with the help of players who had success in the AHL, so it is not wrong to want the Americans to do well in the playoffs, It gives the players the taste of the playoffs that they so richly need. Playoff pressure is playoff pressure, I don't care where it happens. The Sabres just can't dump players we don't like, there are cap ramifications that have to be dealt with. If you don't like 17 or 6 or 21 or anybody what makes you think GMJB is going to be able to find somebody to take them of his hands. One by One these contracts will expire, or they will use the occasional buyout or bury them in the minors, ( Moulson's contract expires this year) the players that will replace them will come from Rochester and they will know what it takes to succeed. - macman9
Do you think we don’t know all this??
These players 9, 26, 23 etc......would benefit greatly with some playoff experience this year! You can waive Sobotka (no one, most likely will take him).
My point is we have 2 months left (it’s not November) these young guys deserve a shot - some guys need to sit 21, 6 and 17 (29 sat). Try to make that push, trade some picks/prospects for players like Toffolli/Hayes before its to late - players young that you can sign! |

yup
I think with eichel, skinner, stone, reinhart and casey
you have 5 of your top 6 locked up for years and all the right age
skunk will get a bump after next season so they have to be responsible when scandella, bogo, pod racer and sheary comes off the books |

Erod is a bottom 6 player. Pommer is a vet.
Do you really think Victor Olofsson is going to come in and score goals with Sobotka?
I know how you feel about Nylander, do you think he comes in and looks good in a bottom 6 role? - sbroads24
Olofsson should play with Mittelstadt or Erod.

I honestly don't understand how people will consider this season a failure if we don't make the playoffs. This team is heads better than last year, They are learning how to play meaningful games at this time of year. anyone who said that the Sabres should make the playoffs this year at the start of the season is kidding themselves. The 10 game win streak was the worst thing to happen this year, because it raised everyone expectations to an unfair level. This team is exactly what the record says they are. GMJB still has a ton of work to do to get the lineup he wants. Our farm team in Cincinnati is having great success, our team in Rochester is having great success, He said when he git here that one of the most important things that needed to happen was building up the farm teams and that would in turn eventually make the parent team stronger. If there was ever a time for patience to see how things play out with a front office and coaching staff, this is it. |

Wait, what’s 6mil Okposo’s role?
I don’t have an issue criticizing Tage or saying he needs to be better.
Expecting goals and points with his linemates are just flat out unrealistic.

The team was in first place in the league. That set expectations higher than they should have been. At the beginning of the season, if you told me that the team would be 4 points out of the playoffs, I would have been happy. The problem is that they gave more hope than they could possibly deliver on. That's the unfortunate part about the expectations. |

the rookie coach is no better after 130 plus games behind the bench
that is my biggest issue
and some scrubs are still on this roster, time for addition from subtraction
skinner is having his best season ever perhaps
reinhart proved the second half of last season was not a fluke
dahlin shows glimpses of being a stud
pilut has shown he will be an nhl d man
yet it's not an upbeat north south team in year 2 still and the pp is underperforming
I think replacing the coach in this case fixes 2/3 of the issues of this team
once the win streak ended, playoffs SHOULD have been the goal
housley and botts sat on their hands and watched the team slide back into a lottery pick |

For a period.
Then he will get sat the moment he takes a penalty or makes a bad play, and we will complain.
Do you really believe Olofsson, Nylander O’Regan or Asplund are just going to come in and transition smoothly?
Housley just sat the Amerk’s best player yesterday
