Buffalo and Vancouver are currently below the playoff cut. So maybe not ‘bad’, but certainly in the lower half of the league, so they aren’t ‘good’ - scottak
So maybe there's a chance Hawks are beginning to beat teams they should beat? |

All part of his plan, Stan is thinking so many moves ahead that he knew, he just knew, that he could turn Manning into Caggiula. - TheTrob
Just like Theo, who signed starting pitchers for 1 year deals he could flip at the deadline. That’s how they got Arrieta from Philly. |

The Kings have acquired a 2019 fourth-round pick from Montreal for Nate Thompson and a 2019 fifth-round pick. |

So if the Hawks beat the teams they are suppose to beat, yes i included the Avs, 14 games = 28 points
83 points, that leaves 12 games
Will it work out that way, hell no

I would add we have beaten a number of playoff bound teams (at least currently in the playoffs)
Washington
Minnesota
Nashville
Dallas
Pittsburgh
St Louis
Columbus
Hawks still own a 10-4-3 record vs the Central but only 3-10-3 vs the Pacific. The early season losses to teams in the Pacific really put the Hawks down. |

So that would probably be the price for Kruger, a 4th rounder.

That might be a good spot to trade Forsling - LAHawk
AA, Forsling, Sikura and our 1st for Hayes, Vesey and Strome (provided Hayes signs an extension). Too much? Too little? |

Basically Vegas traded Thompson to move up a few spots in the middle of the draft. Next to nothing.

I was just going to add...what bodes well for the Hawks right now is that they own the best record in the division vs the central.
10-4-3 Chicago
10-7 Winnipeg
9-5-2 Minnesota
9-7-1 Nashville
8-7-3 St Louis
7-6-2 Dallas
4-7-3 Colorado |

Toronto has a negative shot differential and is right near the bottom 5 in shot against per game. - breadbag
CF as a % they are 9 and HDC as a % they are 7. SAT as a % close 8th.
23rd in blocks. If they didn't suck at blocking shots they would look even better on paper since the other indicators for success and a lot of talent is there.
Still say they are a good team and nyr is not

I'm just saying there is a lot more to it than shots for and shots against. Those can be a trend, but not a great way to say who is a good team or not. |

Not a fan of Vesey or Hayes. And, I would prefer Stay at home D in any trade. |

Maybe true. Depends on how much weight the Hawks 1st round pick carries.
Look at it this way.
Forsling and 1st round pick for Hayes (with a signed extension).
AA and Sikura for Vesey and Strome. Strome and Vesey only have 38 points in 90 games between them. They have a $5.375 cap hit next season. Anisimov has 24 points in 52 games by himself and a $.455 cap hit for the next two seasons. Sikura is an RFA after this season. |

I had them on the list and forgot them...thanks!
14-6-4 record over 24 games in the last 2 months. If they maintain that pace, they could make it. I'm not betting on it, but they could make it interesting. |

How ironic that those wanting the boat to flip over are all on the same side of the boat.
And in typical fashion, pumping the brakes, injecting their wisdom
And defaulting to their fantasy trade game.
Hawks record in last 20 games has to be in top 10 in NHL. That is 1/4 of season. Not a week and a half of games.
I have read all the discounts on opponents and lack of style points, but in the real world and more importantly within the group, they aim to and believe they will make the playoffs. Ironically, they will accomplish this without most of the fans on this board in the fox hole with them.
Which begs the question...

Hawks will not keep up this pace - the last three weeks of season which sees the Hawks play San Jose once, Winnipeg twice, Nashville twice, St. Louis twice and Dallas twice. |

LOL. great post. This team is trending up. Not how you start the race, but how you finish. If they keep up this trend, I see them getting in to the playoffs. Would a top 3 draft pick be excellent? Yes. Is it going to happen? Probably not. Would love to see Stan Bowman continue to adjust the roster and move out pieces that won't be here for the next (hopeful) big run- if they keep winning in the process, that's just gravy.

I see Ryan Hartman's ice time is declining for the Preds, less than 9 minutes yesterday, only over 12 minutes once in the past 10 games |

The team's season will be on the line. I would have agreed with you on this surely a month and a half ago, but crazy things are happening with this group right now. Like a few posters earlier, the Hawks have played their division really well; I am not going to count them out just yet. |
